Peace In Mississippi is on the Wal-Mart only Valleys of Neptune single.

Calling All The Devil s Children (previously unreleased alternate recording) - when was the un-alternate ever released?

I may be in the minority, but the first disc gets me pretty excited. I haven't heard too much pre-Experience Jimi, and if a whole disc of early tracks was selected for this box, I imagine this will be the cream of the crop. Too bad there's no "Shotgun" though, I always loved Jimi's playing on that.

Four discs and they couldn't fit in another version of Lover Man.

I think we can assume there will be some edits throughout, particularly on something that could end up taking a 1/4 of one disc.

There`s nothing wrong with that at all.I`m sure others have been looking forward to the pre experience material.I don`t mean to trash this boxset before even hearing it.I just thought a couple of these would be sufficient for the anthology and a pre Experience comp would be better served as a stand alone release.
I was thinking this anthology would include most if not all the Black Gold, roughly one disc of live highlights similar to the purple box.Mono mixes and a few more alternate takes from ELL.
At least we`ll be hearing some new Hendrix music officially until they get around to the rest.

I`m glad I hung on to my WalMart Valleys single.

PIM is one of my personal favourites and that single was hard to find even week of release, let alone far outside of a major US city or internationally. Plus it was limited to 15,000(less than some daggers) and the whole release is 8-9 minutes for 2 songs. It's like saying those 3 San Fran 68 tracks shouldn't be reissued because of that 20 year old bonus package that came with a t-shirt and bonus disc.

Devil Chile could refer to a non-circulating version.

Cudos for all the licensing on the first disc. Surprised no one griping about that disc being shorter than the others.

There's lots of wiggle room for the live tracks and alternate versions to be stuff we more of less already own legitimately. "60 unreleased tracks" sounds good on the front sticker as does a reference to the box containing the public debut of some Black Gold material.

    I just want disc 1.

I have enough 'previously unreleased' versions.

Can someone in the future tell me when it gets a stand alone release please.

Amazon.co.uk lists a 2 disc sampler for pre-order (release date of 12 October!). Anyone have a track listing for this one?

Also, off topic, but does anyone know if the Bob Dylan Mono Box Sampler is gonna be released outside the US? Can't find it on Amazon UK.

My b-day is coming up and I'm trying to decide how to cash in any gift certificates I may recieve! :D

    Thanks!

Looks like the majority of the tracks are unheard (by me) stuff, so I'm adding it to my "to get" list...

Although I wish they kept the live stuff for separate "live" releases and left this as an all-studio outtakes/alternates set... but it looks like I will enjoy it as much as the purple box :)

I'm using some deductive reasoning but at the very least everything underlined will be an uncirculating performance. I was very critical of Valleys of Neptune but I'm over the moon about the boxset tracklist.

All God's Children and Lonely Avenue are professional, multitrack recordings of unbooted Jimi originals. Suddenly November Morning is an unheard original from Black Gold.

The 3 live Band of Gypsys tracks, Messenger, Bolero, Hear My Freedom, Tears of Rage, the alternate Freedom and most of Disc 2 should be major sonic upgrades.

I know. But there is not a single Wal-Mart in Finland (or Europe). And even there was, i don't think the salesman would know anything about such thing. And even if he would, it would have been OOP at this point anyway.

I mean, WTF is those kind of limited exclusive editions anyway? Keep 'em in print for christ sake! :realmad::realmad::realmad:

IIRC the term "Previously Unreleased Alternate Recording" is used for some tracks on the purple box, when arguably "alternate mix" would have been more appropriate. Perhaps we are getting the undoctored versions of 'Mr Bad Luck' and 'Cat Talkin to me'?

It is an awfully good looking set list.
I'm a sucker for '1983', so wondering if this is/is like the primitive TTG take, or a near-finished alt mix/effects like Jimi Hendrix Story version? (17 track disc suggests the former.)

Better than I was expecting, we shall see how much is properly 'unreleased'

    Hmm.

I'm not sure what to make of this set, with it seeming so soon after VoN.

We have a new regime in charge (with a seemingly clean slate), so why wasn't this stuff included as part of the re-issued series? I might have been tempted to buy them had they been definitive...

This single came out just after I moved to the UK. I was very fortunate to have a friend in the US snag me one at the local Wal-Mart and mail it to me. I had no idea it was a total rarity even upon release! Got lucky with that one ... totally worth it for PIM if you can get it. :righton:

I received an e-mail from Music Direct saying that there will an 8 LP box set. Pre-orders are available for $99.00. There was no track listing, however.
