I like Nine To The Universe. I will never forget how I got "flamed" on this forum for mentioning that. I wished I had not, because even though I have always liked that album, after some folks here pointed out how "terrible the edits were..." etc. etc., I don't listen to the album the same way. Kind of ruined it for me. :shake:

I grew up listening to Nine To The Universe. It wasn't like I had my pick of unedited Jimi jams to choose from. It was the only Jimi album released that sounded the way it did. Now that we have all these recordings available, it does dwarf Nine To The Universe. I wore those grooves when it was the only game in town. I could only think about how great it would be to hear more of this stuff. Now the studio Dagger releases and others are in constant rotation.

I have always liked Nine to the Universe ... I think in the case of the title track, unedited, it's not exactly focused and a bit of a mess ... the edited version on the album is a blast from start to finish -- and that's exactly how that process is supposed to go ...

I love that EH dedicated the financial resources to Valleys of Neptune to make it the success that it is. Sure I have nits, but I can over look somethings when I basically get a full 60 minutes of new well done Hendrix music -- pressed at Sterling Sounds. Really, my biggest nit about the whole thing is that they took all the teeth out of the track Valleys of Neptune itself ...

True. Alan Douglas had deleted it years before i was listening to Jimi Henrdix! And he was still in command! :D

I think Nine to Universe was ok, but i like the unedited versions better. (I haven't heard the unedited version of the title track though!)

I'd really like to see the track listing of the new box set!

If only that were EVER the case. Ok, maybe it happens on very rare occasions, but box sets nearly always fail to completely please either the hardcore or the casual fan. It's the nature of the design, & it goes all the way back to Dylan's "Biograph" from 1985 (?).

What I've been doing lately is taking all of my box sets & burning just the rare/non-album tracks. A 4 CD set typically comes out to either one stuffed CD, or 2 50 minute or so CD's.

As far as the record companies doing THAT for you (and saving you money), it almost never happens. They wouldn't make as much money & they know that the die-hards are going to shell out for the box set anyway. It's a strategy that has been working for them for a quarter of a century now, & it ain't gonna change.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the single CD is going to be a best of the box kind of deal.
Just trying to keep conversation going while they are taking their time releasing
    a track listing.

I took the liberty of calling up EH yesterday afternoon. They said they still don't know when the tracklist will be announced. They did confirm that Nov. 2 is still the release date. When the announcement is ready, it will be put up on the website immediately and an e-mail will be sent out to the EH mailing list.
They also said that other people have been calling with the same question. Could it be Hoffman Forum members? :D

Good point, wasn`t there also talk of some new Band Of Gypsies 40th anniversary transfers or something in the works for a Dagger set?

I`m not complaining at all, believe me I can`t believe this anthology is happening I wanted this the most of everything.Remember that thread"if you owned the rights to Hendrix`s music"You don`t think maybe, just maybe it`s possible they read it and took our hints?
    Of course a coincidence.

I already moaned a bit on one JH forum, but i'm glad to do it here too.

While it looks good, lot's of stuff i haven't heard. But i still wonder why Peace in Missisippi isn't included. And where's Easy Blues?

What was that rumour about Black Gold?

It is my bet this will be a studio Mastermind ... EH didn't really mince words on why it was cut from Woodstock.

An awful lot of new stuff in that line up ... I wonder if that Stone Free is from The Royal Albert Hall show ...

My guess is that it's from the Band of Gypsys show.

If the Stone Free is genuinely unreleased, then it's from neither.

It might be from the 2nd set of December 31, 1969. That version IS unreleased.

Then will it be complete, including Nutcracker Suite/Drum Solo/Outside Woman Blues/Cherokee Mist/Sunshine Of Your Love, and almost 17 minutes long, or edited?
