can someone tell me how i go about ordering DVDs that work in Australia please.
Our TV is the same as the UK PAL system whereas the US uses NTSC. Then there is the business with the 'Zones' ..... ?

I have been totally avoiding the issue up until now but i'd really like some/this Jimi vid.

    thanks

Your options would either be ordering a PAL version when/if the set is released in Australia or England, or having a multi-region DVD player that will allow you to play Region 1 discs.

"Black Gold" song title or lyrics I think.

At least they didn't title it something like
"Electric Spanish Castle Gypsy Voodoo Brother" or something equally lame, trying to conjure up Hendrixness.

  5. Awesome! I'm grabbing this for sure, really looking forward to this.

This news is so cool, it's lured me out of lurk-mode momentarily to say, "Fantastic!"

It's the 4-cd set for me!!

Hey ChrisM. I forgot to tell you something earlier today-You're entirely welcome for the news. I knew this would bring a smile to your face as it appears to have brought one to most of the people here. I'm still very surprised that I was the one who put the news up here first. Being out here on the West Coast, I figure that I'll be the last person to be able to pass on anything here because East Coast people can spot news before I do. Also, thank you for digging out the old Rolling Stone Magazine stuff I carted out a few months back. It reinforces some of the information about what this set will supposedly have.

NTSC is a different thing from region code. PAL tvs/dvd-players are NTSC compatible (some very old tvs may have problems). If it's region 0 NTSC, you shouldn't have any problems.

Anyone have any news on the reissues of "Blues" or "BBC Sessions"? Will these be remastered? If so, the vinyl of BBC could be quite the pick-up.

We can assume the BBC set will be a straight reissue with no corrections made to the sound.

Also, why not expand the Blues compilation? There are plenty of additional blues jams and covers from various sessions in the vaults.

The BBC set will have 1 extra track added, Burning Of The
Midnight Lamp (Top Of The Pops 1967) and a new 30 minute
bonus DVD documentary, featuring the Lulu Show performance.

The Blues set will include a DVD featuring an expanded, 30
minute version of "Jimi Hendrix and the Blues" from the Martin
    Scorsese Presents The Blues series.

Should be anytime now.I think this box really does have the potential to top the Purple box in sound and content, not scraping the bottom of the barrel. As long as they are not holding any grail worthy material back(besides Miami and RAH) and they use all the available disc space.I`m guessing we`ll hear decent mastering, but I`m expecting not all of this to be the greatest quality recordings to begin with but that`s okay with me I want to hear the music.I could care less how this thing is packaged. This could be one of the best ever Hendrix releases.

This is the kind of thing about re-issues that really makes me mad... I'm not buying the BBC set again just for one more song, but I'll be forever bothered that I don't have that one extra track...

Ooh, glad I held out on getting that set. And at least it sounds like the DVDs are a bit more substantial than the ones that accompanied the main album rereleases.

I think what everybody´s waiting to hear is what´s going to be the source for this releases. I´m dying for the box, but i will certainly wait and see

The Experience Hendrix company was planning to rake the people over the coals when the FIRST version of these came out. They figured if they held back some tracks to release a decade up the road, they'd be able to double dip and make even more money. It's totally disgusting.

How much GOOD material is there? I really feel like they have watered down Jimi's legacy in a big way.

You could make one really good cd out of Valleys of Neptune and the four or five studio outtake sets Daggar has released.
