I just hope the 5.1 doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I deplore the trend that reserves 5.1 mixes for the tony ultra-deluxe versions of the album.

Well, in the liner notes for Thick As A Brick 2, Ian Anderson says that "...EMI Records, who were supportive of the project from the outset, agreed with me that we should eventually release the "bundled" TAAB 1 and 2 product together as a vinyl collectors' edition later in 2012."

At least you won't have to buy the vinyl if you are only wanting the surround sound disc(whatever that will be) but still makes me wonder how TAAB 1 will be released...

Loved his work on Aqualung. I'm in for this.

His work on Aqualung was great. Love the vinyl in the set. I would buy a set with the works in it.

Hope that Blu-Ray will also be included, like Aqualung.

What's wrong with the original mix? Has Ian turned into George Lucus? Not a good thing in my mind, but I'm no revisionist. BTW I'm talking 2 channel only, have at it with a 5.1. An I'm good with the original Quad

    Can't wait for this :righton:

The current anniversary version isn't good

Harsh-sounding and with NR at the same time :shake:

No. George Lucas would have overdubbed lot's of cheesy choirs á la Eurovision Song Contest and some funny little humour bits.

I thought Steven Wilson's remix of Aqualung was brilliant, and the original mix was on the DVD. I guess Thick as a Brick will be the same.

  19. I hope the 5.1 remix will be available on a relatively cheap release, not just in an expensive boxed set. I strongly doubt the new stereo mix will beat the MFSL gold disc, so I'm interested in the surround only.

My Aqualung box set was purchased brand new at amazon.com, and it was pretty cheap. :help:

i also have the box, not cheap at 130 bucks US…and it irks me that the stereo original mix is flawed, unlistenable in spots (might even ruin speakers)

i don’t see any replacement discs forthcoming...

So Thick As A Brick, two ELP reissues plus Crimsons' Larks (I'm in for all 4). Doesn't leave much time for the next Porcupine Tree disc.
