Two original (USA & Canada were missing beginning and end) versions of Aqualung.
Sound is improved on the versions with the restored beginning and end.
The complete original West Germany (duller) & Japan (brighter) discs are good.
I settled on the UK disc as I found it to be the best balance of all of the releases.

UK double disc? US single disc?

The first Canadian disc is horrible sounding.

If you mean the original US Chrysalis, has anyone here ever had anything good to say about it?

The pressings that some have indicated are pretty good are the early WG and Japan discs, iirc.

 Sorry, I've never seen a UK Living In The Past single disc.
Does this have the same track listing as the US issue?

    American single-disc:
    1. "Song for Jeffrey" – 3:20
    2. "Love Story" – 3:02
    3. "Christmas Song" – 3:05
    4. "Living in the Past" – 3:20 (Anderson/Ellis)
    5. "Driving Song" – 2:39
    6. "Sweet Dream" – 4:02
    7. "Singing All Day" – 3:03
    8. "Witch's Promise" – 3:49
    9. "Inside" – 3:49
    10. "Alive and Well and Living In" – 2:45
    11. "Just Trying to Be" – 1:36
    12. "By Kind Permission Of" – 10:11 (Live track) (Evan)
    13. "Dharma for One" – 9:45 (Live track) (Anderson/Bunker)
    14. "Wond'ring Again" – 4:12
    15. "Hymn 43" (not included in the UK edition of the album) – 3:17
    16. "Life Is a Long Song" – 3:18
    17. "Up the 'Pool" – 3:10
    18. "Dr. Bogenbroom" – 2:59
    19. "For Later" – 2:06
    20. "Nursie" – 1:38

I'm asking this because the horrible Canadian issue has a different track listing?

Wow. My original Chrysalis cd of "Living in the Past" is one of the best sounding cd's I have in my 2000+ cd collection. It is a gem. US Chrysalis original from 1980's.

  10. Is it the 19 or 20 track version?

    IIRC, it's 20 tracks.

I'm curious about this too, but I'm guessing that any 20 track version is the good one (other than the MFSL, which, however good it may be, is not sucking 200 frickin' clams out of my wallet!).

I was totally psyched when the MOFI LITP came out, as I had actually written them suggesting they do a two disc release combining all tracks from the UK and US versions.

I don't even remember if I ever bought the single disc version. I had the blue label lps for years until I found a decent green label.

Thanks I'm wondering if this is the same as yestiles's. Do you like the sound of this one?

I own the MoFi and I'm happy with it...better quality hiss. :D

I owned a USA copy of "Living In The Past" and it was close to the MoFi.
I could hear why there would be a track by track choice cuts decision here. :)

OK I've searched until I'm dizzy. I'm about to pick up some more Tull to augment my one album (TaaB remaster). I've gathered that the original US version of Benefit is generally favored over the remasters (which is nice because they are cheaper, but then again you don't get the benefit (haw!) of the bonus tracks); and of the non-MFSL Living in the Past versions the 20-track US is the one to get.

However, I'd like to hear some more opinions on Heavy Horses if I could. Seems to be not as much info on that one compared with some other classic albums, and some varied opinions. I believe that people have said this is a fairly bright album, yet some discerning ears surprisingly still recommend the remaster. (I see that the US and UK originals apparently use the same mastering, so that should reduce some of the confusion, at least.)

Between the US/UK original and the remaster (of Heavy Horses), which do you prefer and why? What do you hear as the differences, and are they large?

At least you sold yours.... :righton: I had an open copy AND a sealed back up and now I can't find either.... :shake: :sigh: :shake:

But I guess this belongs on the "have your Cds gone missing thread..."

BTW, though, in another Tull thread someone, tootull? said they loved the MFSL version of Teacher, but I don't rememebr that being on any MFSL Cd... Oh wait... I bet it IS on the US/UK MFSL verison of Living In The Past... so...

Back to my original sad thought...

    cheers,
