    exactly!
it is far the best sounding one as stated in this original thread...the 3rd corrected one is dull and lifeless...

I too love the remix, but some of the mixes lost the greatness of the original.

That looks smiley faced to me. The VK #2 vs #3. I don't know what you'd call it ...

    :agree:

"Ever so slightly" is actually probably the wrong way to put it though.

Kevin5Brown, Do you have one of those showing how the blu-ray of the original mix compares to the #3 (corrected)? Those sound very similar to me.

I agree the #2 sounds a little smiley but it's not bad and I enjoy that version. I bet the remix would look like just about the biggest smiley curve we've ever seen here but I guess my ears could be playing tricks on me. I just hear no midrange in that remixed version at all. I don't even know why I liked it for a while but I guess the freshness of it pulled me in for a time..........

Ahh, I do believe that you have your numbers reversed.

The BD is amazingly close in tonality to VK #3. I only have a sample of the BD, but it sounds quite good.

Hey! thanks for the BD sample! now I can be rest assured that I'm not missing anything! :laugh:Excellent!
Geez, now I love version 2 even more!:goodie:

Sorry Michael. I corrected a mistake with the reference column label in the Excel file. You like an inferior version.

    apology accepted...

  10. The Bluray looks interesting. Has the error/glitch on one track ever been rectified?

  11. Kevin, thanks for the curves. I honestly believe that some people "hear" the VK #2 as being "flat", i.e. the hearing response is different from other people.

I don't understand the comment in bold. He likes what he likes. You find it inferior. That is your opinion.

    ^^^

And Michael keeps saying that the VK #3 sounds like crap, that it blows, and that it's dull and lifeless ... as if all that is fact. But it's not. That's his opinion as well. But he doesn't preface it as such. So why should i? :righton:

But what is fact? That the VK #3 is a heckuva lot closer in tonality to the Blu-ray release than the VK #2 CD. That is fact.

dude! of course it's my OPINION!

I have a great idea! start a thread about the greatness of the third VK CD issue! so I can come over to your thread and crap all over it as you are doing in mine.;)

your cryptic insults make me laugh!...I am not the only one who likes this version...please re-read the thread and insult them as well...OK?
I happen to disagree with most of your "sound quality" opinions as well, but I don't try to make you feel bad about them...or insult you ever.

    I like my #3.

  18. Since when is "some people" a singular?

By the way, it wasn't meant at all as an insult. Just an explanation why different people have different preferences (because they hear things differently). Trust me, the way I hear the remix, there is no way you can like it. Why would I like something that literally hurts my ears at louder volumes? I am sure when you listen to the remix at louder volumes, it doesn't hurt your ears, because I doubt very much that you would like something if it hurts you listening to it and if it makes you turn down the volume very much to be able to bear it.

And since you in general don't agree with my preferences on other things, that is another clear sign that your hearing is different than mine.

I am not saying who's hearing is better, they're just very obviously different.

  20. I was able to find mastering #3 for the VK 41044 U.S. Chrysalis CD. Has DADC stamped in the clear hub and has black paint/printing. No RE-1 in the matrix. 43:25 total time.

Is this pressing rare or not really?

Another version to add to my Aqualung CD collection.

I don't know which master I have (haven't extracted it yet), but it's an RE-1 in the matrix and it sounds terrible.

Haven't had a chance to read the whole thread, either, but I see some mention of a "no-noised" one- is the RE-1 it? It sure sounds like it.

Thank you, Michael, for starting this thread. Because of it, I "discovered" the "Aqualung" CD you recommend anew and, yes, it sounds very, very good!
