I'd not mind having the full Hollywood Bowl show...including the missing Hello, I Love You.

The official Matrix release is arguably the worst executed archival release ever. It makes the expanded Odds & Sods reissue look like a triumph.

  7. Sounds great except for Oliver Stone having any input whatsoever...

That guy likes history the way he tells it regardless of facts!

Still looking forward to this release though!

I`m really looking forward to hearing this Matrix set.Hope they are not packaged in those cardboard things like the Beatles stereo remasters but that`s the least of my worries, looks like the music on this one is going to be done the right way.The news we got so far sounds very promising.

Being that Jeff Jampol is supposed to be an audiophile, this seems unlikely.
Maybe Ray thinks it will sell more copies.

Val is method actor of the highest calibre and is even still researching the Morrison role 20 years later.

<<Music will be maximized for a modern age punch, but without changing a single note.>>

    :realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad:

How about instead of maximizing the CD, the producers include the following sentence in the album's liner notes:

"For modern age punch, turn volume up on stereo."

There was an official Doors tweet about this forthcoming Records Store Day release of a Riders on the Storm 45 rpm with stereo and mono versions to celebrate the 40th anniversary of L.A. Woman. http://www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/4957

Did L.A. Woman have a mono release? If so is the mono Riders on the Storm drastically different?

I am unaware of any mono release for that 1971 LP, not even a promo, although some countries like Brazil and Indonesia were releasing fold-downs in 1970.

I listened to the LA Woman remix earlier and couldn't get over how awful the title track is. Drums are way too loud, reverb is all wrong, they longer intro that doesn't work at all. I hope they give use vintage mixes where available for the outtakes. I'd love something like a Love Her Madley rough mix with a cold ending. The stuff after the fade heard on the remix is worthy.

One good thing about the remixed LA Woman (track) is that the drum leaking during the "i see your hair is burning" part is fixed.

The remixed album is horrible. It ruined one of the bass sounds i've ever heard. And what's that clumsy panning of tom-tom fills? Was it made in order to try to make the fills sound more "stereo"? And the re-invented phasing effect on Texas Radio doesn't work at all.

...And i still hate Morrison's every extra howl and whistle. There was a good reason why they were omitted in the first place.

.. and yet the Original Mix isn't even available at the moment is it?

I agree, they castrated the groove Jerry Scheff and John Densmore had. The extra moans at the start of Car Hiss By My Window is like a bug landing in your drink.

Huh? The original album mixes are still available on CD, reissues from 1999 were only remastered, not futzed with.
