Canada was the US version. SKOW was remixed for the EMI remaster, so I'm happy AF went the US route.

I'm amazed that we are getting an album a lot of people want on AF gold...and there are more complaints about the selection of US vs UK version. Maybe AF should cancel the title outright so everyone has something "real" to complain about.

It may be a day old, but to me it's still GREAT NEWS that we get Fireball mastered by Steve, so all Mk II studio albums now, what a great collection this is! :righton: Even without the UK track listing on FB ;)

    What Steve said.

"Now, this is going to be the AMERICAN version of the album so no Demon's Eye. AF tried, but no. We have strict orders to respect the USA song order in our Territory so don't ask. Just the breaks but this will be the USA album as issued here in 1971."

I've put off buying this CD for years, hoping that this would happen. Good things come to those who wait...years.

In the future perhaps a AF version of Singles A's and B's?

Never, AF focus on official albums, not posthumous "fan club" compilations.

The original UK (EMI) pressing is good :righton:

I hear that the rather good needledrop is the way to go if you want both tracks , but I couldn't possibly say so

AF has released compilations of the Searchers, the Zombies and Laura Nyro.

What source for the needle drop? I far prefer the original EMI CD to the original UK vinyl.

I guess this is the same treble boost our host is referring to earlier in this thread.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm quite sure this will be the ultimate version of this album regardless of media. For Demon's Eye I'm keeping the original EMI CD.

What I was referring to was that there is a version with both 'Demon's Eye' & 'Strange Kind Of Woman' in one place Not really the sound quality .Although I don't particularly find the UK 'Porky' bright at all . The quote you mention from Steve does say almost every release . I haven't heard a copy of the original EMI CD . If the EMI's are comparable to the original Queen or Pink Floyd CD's then it should be good . I must find a copy now to find out :)

Q: when Steve got a tape that is in bad shape, like this one, do the record company ask for a high resolution digital tape copy (DSD,DXD 24/192 pcm) back? Or don't they care about that the analog master tape is "falling apart"?

When Steve is working for a perfect analog transfer (perfectrly adjusted tape machine etc) from this tape, I think it would be a great opportunity to save what is left of the sound on the master tape in highest possible digital resolution, so that 16/44 is not the only thing that is left for the next generation.

Well, not everything in this business seems logic to me. :sigh:
