Ugh. I'll steer clear of that one then. Thanks!

Maybe we should start a poll for "Burn" ;)

Thank God I'm A CD fan...

MENG - You wanna get the UK EMI CD. They're out there. You're in the UK, so it shouldn't be too hard. Another option is the 19 93Singles A's & B's CD, which has good sounding versions of both Demon's Eye and Strange Kind Of Woman.

Well, in a way Deep Purple did become a different band with the addition of Coverdale and Hughes. So sure, why not do Burn. It contains an excellent batch of tunes, and none of the available digital versions sound good.

I think... that's the "last" DP album which would benefit from Steve's mastering :righton:

Why would you say that..what makes the MK II LP's plus Burn "more" likely to benefit than say "Stormbringer" or "Come Taste The Band" or heck "Perfect Strangers" or "Shades of Deep Purple" or 'Concerto For Group And Orchestra"

I think AF would never do MK1 or Concerto...the EMI "Stormbringer" remaster sounds okay.... it would not (!) benefit much from Steve... like on "In Rock", "Machine Head" or "Who Do We Think We Are."

I also don't believe AF will do the same title, which was mastered shortly... like "Come Taste The Band". Universal will overhaul "Perfect Strangers" in 2011.

Your statement was that only "Burn" would benefit, not about availability or desire to remaster. I took that literally.

EMI's Burn remaster sounds so bad (harash, loud and compressed).... that was the reason why I said, it would benefit most by Steve's mastering.

Ditch all of those and just re-do Made In Japan. That's the money shot.

ALL three nights in Japan w/ original mixes....now, that's the money shot. :D

    Well, there you go.

  17. I think the "Stormbringer" remaster sounds not very good. The original EMI CD is much much better in my opinion. Actually, I think the original EMI CD sounds so nice that I indeed don't think it would benefit much from the AF treatment.

Now "Burn", that is a different story. That album does not sound very good on any CD version (I consider the EMI UK CD the best of the available options).

Well.... EMI's Stormbringer remaster was the first acceptable DP remaster. I agree the original UK pressing is better, but much much better? No way!!!

This thread really made my day. The AF remaster of "Fireball" will be mine!

Count me in as another DP fan who would love to hear an AF remaster of "Burn."

Did you read the thread? AF did not chose it, it was ordered.

No, AF had their choice of the British or USA lineup. They chose the USA lineup being that this is a USA Gold CD release.

AF wanted to include both versions but was ordered not to. One version or the other so they picked the American track listing. Sorry if I was not clear.

In the first post Steve says that they had strict orders to follow the US song order, in the second he says that AF chose the US song order.
