Definitely lost much when Pete died and when Les decided to depart, lost two very talented musicians. If you read Will's book he gives a lot of credit to Les for their sound.

Been a fan since the 80s. Still am. The first albums were amazing. Even the Grey self titled album. The musicianship was very very good. No member of the band was a "virtuoso" but together they created a very original sound. Moving on. The only album in their catalog that I dislike is Reverberation. IMO Evergreen was a fantastic re emergence. I do agree that with the loss of Pete they lost their backbeat. Losing a member always changes the sound. This was compounded by the loss of Les. Basically that monster back line was destroyed. So what of the new albums? Also fantastic. But you have to listen to them with different expectations. Ian and Will both sound awesome and are still making records that many bands wish they could write. One of my favorite later albums is Siberia. I will say that the 25th anniversary cds were pretty good. But lack the intensity of the bass and drums on the original cds and vinyl. Seems like todays remaster professionals trade soundstage for bass and drums now adays. Same thing happened with Pink Floyd..compare the 90s cds to the 2012 cds and they are very different. Also. I will give Mobile Fidelity a kudos for doing an amazing job on Heaven Up Here. It slams my other versions. Why I dont know. But it does in my world. LOL. One of my favorite bands forever!
US Tour off to a stumbling start. Reviews from the first show in Atlanta on Monday... @MollyTommyComm Bad show! If he was sick he should have cancelled or informed his fans. Max of 50 minutes performance is unacceptable. Leaving the stage for 20+ minutes unacceptable. Projectile vomiting leaving after rushing a song unacceptable. @Michael06513216 That show was horrendous last night. The singing was awful, guitars were bad, keys all over the place. Why not cancel if you know it wasn’t going to be decent? Stop robbing the fans. We paid a lot of money for those tickets and got projectile vomiting instead. Show #2 tonight in Houston cancelled 30 minutes before show time.
Whoa. Not so disappointed that I'm going to miss the Denver show by about two days. Hope there's not something seriously wrong with Mac.
Oh no, I follow Will Sargent on Twitter and he has been posting photos of the road trip across the US.
Bumping one of my favorite threads, just because I hate the U2 vs Bunnymen thread that has been active lately. Some of us enjoy both groups! I’m spinning Evergreen SDE and thinking it’s such a shame 3/4 of original band couldn’t stay together. This was a fantastic comeback album.
It's a nicely done package - lots of versions I had not heard before. It is too bad that Les didn't stick around after Evergreen, they're a better band with him.
I discovered the album "80's Symphonic" a few days ago. Not sure if this song has been mentioned previously. It wouldn't be my preferred version... interesting nonetheless.
i finally got one of my holy grails, after several years of looking. now a copy came up a few months ago for $400+, and even i passed on it. luckily one more came up in the 'normal' price range, so i got it. ocean rain - live - cd and dvd (audio is available digitally) this is when they had a full orchestral backing for it, which sounded excellent. Echo And The Bunnymen - Ocean Rain Live 2008 it was also autographed, because when you bought it from the webstore that was the option. the behind the scenes footage is pretty cool. i should post it to youtube at some point. later -1
another pickup i got, that is very cool, is the updated more songs to learn and sing (which added even more songs to it): Echo & The Bunnymen - The Very Best Of Echo & The Bunnymen - More Songs To Learn And Sing tons of great videos too.. Is the entire concert/show on the dvd as well? Discogs says it’s just behind the scenes footage and photos. Thanks.
De Freitas was such an amazing and creative drummer. I always thought it was ironic that he replaced a drum machine.
I have this too. It's missing "The Puppet," as was the entire remaster campaign, so don't sell your originals.
