Not sure what to think of that. There may be a mix in there for it, maybe under another name or just unaccounted for.
They also seem blissfully unaware of how terrible the US copy tape of the mono AYE sounds, since they keep using it. (As do certain "experts", despite having clearly better sounding alternatives at their disposal.)
This post, buried in the 4th page of the thread, is the most important one of mine in terms of detailing the differences between the actual 45 mixes and the ones that have been called the "single mixes" throughout the digital era. To be clear, the digital "single mixes" seem to be vintage mixes created in Jimi's lifetime, and could be considered better (they're certainly not less good) than the ones released on the 45. Still, for those completists among us, why not re-release 'em?
So would the best version of the two alternate mixes still be on the Voodoo Child comp or is there another place that has better dynamics for these two mixes?
Good question, and I'd love to know the answer. I think for "Stepping Stone," a less squashed version did come out somewhere.... earlier? Not sure about Izabella.
There is a vinyl edition of the Voodoo Child comp, so I assume the place to get it with less limiting would be here, but the problem is the after market price is pretty high for this one. https://www.discogs.com/release/6311069-Jimi-Hendrix-Voodoo-Child-The-Jimi-Hendrix-Collection
