Getz/Gilberto SACD soundstage positioning is totally different than CD?

No idea. I think it could be one of two reasons. First reason, they thought they were getting better fidelity that way. Second reason could be that A&R had a really old Ampex and 30 was the standard speed.

In honor of her death, I’m playing the SHM-SACD tomorrow morning. I also have most of the other digital versions, also.

My SHM-SACD has Astrud on the right channel. Either way, this disc sounds phenomenal!

The Astrud Gilberto Album is also great. Her first and best album IMO.

Hello I have the verve 1997 CD which sounds wonderful with the exception of Getz being mostly 3 to 5db too loud for me. Is there a good CD alternative? Is the AP SACD more balanced? Thanks

Check out one of these - they are from the same 2018 mastering and better than the AP, imo.
One is a hybrid and one is not.

Thanks, @ricks, I hope all is well with you. These days my focus is on enjoyment and sound quality. If the channels are correct or not, I am cool either way.

OK, I checked. On my SHM SACD, Astrud is on the Left.

But after all these years the wrong way has pretty much by default become the right way. Astrud just doesn't sound right on the left. They should've left her on the right. Right sounds right because she's always been there. Nothing left to say about it. Right?
