Genesis - early CD versions thread

As per post # 232, here's a sample. Again, the inserts say "Made in Japan" on this copy of Nursery Cryme but the disc only has the catalog number plus "A" in the matrix. This version is way too bright for me. EAC does not show any PE but this sure sounds like a disc being w/o PE being decoded:

This is a different mastering from any that I've seen before. Granted, I have never seen or heard any of the Atlantic, so it might be related to that in some weird way....

 

I wondered the same thing. It would be great if somebody with the old Atlantic could throw up a sample. That Atlantic was really bright as well.

Another thing to add and I won't bother posting the EAC as I didn't even check it since both sounded the same and had the same TT. The Canadian version of Duke on Atlantic matches the US version exactly. Same channel reversal.
