I've got the Rollins on SACD and I think I'll focus on Ammons for the moment. But thanks.

What about Groove Blues? It's a companion to The Big Sound and on OJC. Any other Ammons?

i have the RVG which replaced the Japanese K2 - not a huge improvement, and I suppose on many systems not very noticeable at all. I would go for the RVG, while it is not a "flat transfer" and does not attempt to replicate the original LP (neither of which are attributes I slavishly strive for) it is very nice sounding with greater depth and room ambience and Ammons horn is very well represented,

Is the K2 more warm sounding than the RVG remaster? I know that the RVG's tend to be a tad bright, can anyone go into detail about the K2 remaster?

Resurrecting an old thread here on a nice Saturday morning of music listening :). I have the Boss Tenor XRCD playing with the volume cranked up and it sounds outstanding IMO. Hopefully the Boss Tenor SACD from APO will be released in the near future. I'll be curious to see how the XRCD and the SACD compare.

Great album! I've had the Boss Tenor XRCD for years and have been waiting for the SACD version. I read something about the APO SACD being released months ago - what's the latest ETA on that sucker?

The Music Direct listing still shows "TBA". If I think of it I'll give Acoustic Sounds a call to see if they have a better idea on when the SACD will be released.

I thought of this thread while listening to the Boss Tenor XRCD. The APO SACD is showing as a preorder at Acoustic Sounds and showing as "shipping 2016". At least that narrows it down to the year ;).

To my ears the XRCD sounds amazing and it is not compressed or loud I imagine it is almost the same as the original early cd mastering.

I have the OJC on vinyl. Sounds a little disorted on my mono tig, I presume this is stereo then? Sounds beautiful on my stereo system
