Sermon is very different for Rickie. I like it a lot but I kind of describe it as Rickie meets Tom Waits.

I did choose Blue but I could have chosen any of the first four. I am not familiar with Goldfrapp.

I agree. Joni is queen in many respects. Court and Spark is closely behind. Much lighter album and more tongue in cheek than Blue. Some people have a hard tme listening to Blue. It doesnt make me uncomfortable though.

Goldfrapp is the last name of the singer. I cant remember her first right off hand. Most of her first albums were more dance meets industrial type stuff. This one is soft. Kind of like those early morning rays that peek through a window sound - if that makes sense. She does some amazing turns with her vocals. And the melodies are just beautiful. Otherworldly stuff.

    Sylvie Courvoisier -- Abaton
Sandy Denny -- The North Star Grassman And The Ravens
    Nico -- The Marble Index
Joni Mitchell -- The Hissing Of Summer Lawns

EDIT: I'm going to follow dumangl's lead (even though his post followed mine, which tears a hole in the time-space continuum), and throw in five "girl groups", or, shall we say, bands that consist wholely or entirely of female members, to be a bit less patriarchal:

    Mephista -- Entomological Reflection
    Slits -- Cut
    Death Praxis -- s/t
    X-Ray Spex -- Germfree Adolescents
    Electrelane -- The Power Out

  9. Solo:

    Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna
    Enya - The Celts
Dolly Parton - Halos And Horns
Mary Hopkin - Earth Song Ocean Song
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood

    Girl groups:

    The Honeys - Ecstasy
    American Spring - Spring
Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton - Trio
    Bangles - Doll Revolution
Uncle Earl - She Waits For Me
