Lots of great albums that year, but I voted for Elvis.

I actually had this conversation with my friend the other day:
Did you know The Who never had a #1 record in the US?
    Quadrophenia wasn't #1?
No, Elton John held them back at #2.
    I like Elton John.
He's ok but Quadrophenia is an amazingly great album and should have been #1- at least for one week. I don't know what people were smoking back then

So an album not in the poll - an album that doesn't QUALIFY for the poll - is the "clear winner" because you like it more? Oy... :sigh:

It was a tie again for me I went with Goat's Head as I knew my other choice (PF - Dark Side) was going to be the landslide winner.

Hmmm, I see I debated a bit between the most popular and the second most popular choice--and eventually took DARK SIDE over GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.

This was a tough one for me also. It was a choice between War, Zep and Floyd (with EJ in there for good measure).

I ended up going for Dark Side of the Moon - it is just such a classic and inspiring recording, on a level of it's own. A record by which other records are judged.

Floyd. There some good titles in amongst the rest but nothing for me that hits the status of being an out and out classic. Every track is a winner.

  11. Goats Head Soup.

Quad. was their highest charter. Who's Next is the bigger surprise. As a single album it only reached #4. If it was a different poll, say the greatest albums that didn't go #1, these 2 would be right up there.

Okay, I would have voted for Pink Floyd, but I didn't see it when I voted. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road got the nod.
