How many of you who were buying records in 1972 even heard of Big Star then? I wish I had: I like their music. But I didn't know they existed until the '90s, courtesy of the Replacements.

That's who I voted for. That was a damn good album (though it was one of the surface noisiest records I owned at the time).

Exile by far (favorite album ever), followed by Thick as a Brick and Superfly. Big Neil Young fan, but never really liked Harvest, except for a few tunes...

MY favourite album from 1972 is The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie. It may not have reached #1 in either the USA or the UK but it should've, IMHO

    Wow,
To me, it's Exile by a mile, Harvest (which would have been #1 any other year), Brick, Honky Tonk, then put the rest in a hat.
    Easiest poll ever!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Just because I don't prefer Brick over Harvest doesn't mean I have to turn in my Tull card! I'm allowed a slight askance every now and then :D

Thanks for the hearty welcome to CA though...I'd LOVE to move up there. BC or Alberta please, thank you.

I'm going to have to take a listen to this album... a few people have mentioned it in this thread.

  9. Tough choice. I picked Tull, but the Stones and Moody Blues were a very close 2nd and 3rd.

Great list - all winners, no losers.

I picked America because its currently my favorite of the batch.

Depending on the year I woulda picked Thick As A Brick, Honky Chateau, or Harvest.

I'm surprised Exile was a No. 1 record. I thought it was poorly received at first and it took a long time to catch on.

Yeah, the Neil Young fans will welcome you to Canada.

Slight nothing. Book of rules: (see (Brick) newspaper) To qualify in the future for the annual mystery coach trip for local pensioners you must not deny Thick as a Brick. Old Neil will forgive you.

'First Take' is probably my favourite, but it was a couple of years old by then, so I'm voting for Curtis.

At this point I have narrowed my choices down to four... I always take a long time choosing favorites in polls like this.

    Right now it's between

    Harvest
    Seventh Sojourn
    Catch Bull At Four
    Superfly

Can't make up my mind I love these four almost equally.

TAAB has twice as many super melodies as the Stones had in their whole career

Can it be more specific. In 1972, my favorite album of this lot would be Superfly. At present time it would be Exile. So I would vote for both.

Harvest is getting my vote. As always very tough competition. Wish AF could make some nice Gold CD's of these albums...... :righton:

Neil Young, Harvest for me. I'm surprised it isn't getting more votes.
