I went with George ATMP. But, I'm really surprised Led Zep 4 didn't hit #1!

This was a tough one... Went with Sticky Fingers, my fave Stones LP although I could have picked ATMP which is top 10 for me all time. What a great year for music!

Sticky Fingers, too - The first year I owned my own LP's and from this list I had a copy of Stiky fingers and Pearl plus a copy of Jesus Christ superstar was in the family.
Funny how influential that album actually was back then Ian Gillan singing Jeses.
Back then it would have been my favorite for sure; but today I dig EPTAS nearly as much as SF; but since it is a Stones album and one of their best on top the vote gone clear Sticky Fingers by a mile.
ATMP has a few great singles, but as a record it fails - never managed playing all 6 sides or 2 CD's. Hard to play 1 actually ...

So easy for me. "Jesus Christ Superstar" (I presume this is the studio recording). I don't care what other people think (as it's obviously not a big vote getter), I love this album to death and play it frequently!

I'm surprised by Imagine as an album not being more appreciated. It has some of Lennon's best solo work and songs on it.

Sticky Fingers but I absolutely love All Things Must Pass. It would be those two.

Agreed...there are some great underrated songs on "Imagine", such as Crippled Inside, I don't want to be a soldier, How

Maybe if he'd left off that stupid Oh Yoko!...

  14. I'm surprised "Tapestry" is doing so poorly...not only was it the biggest selling album of 1971 but the entire decade of the '70s!!! We're talking "Thriller" level sales figures...:sigh:

For sentimental reasons, I voted for Four Way Street. I remember getting money from my grandparents as a college graduation present. This is the album I bought with that money. An album that I would have put in the mix is Tea For The Tillerman by Cat Stevens.

Isn't Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" the top selling album of the decade? Or was it Saturday Night Fever or Led Zeppelin IV?

"Tapestry" has sold 25 million worldwide (10 million U.S.) while "Thriller" has sold over 100 million worldwide (29 million U.S.).

So many great choices, but I voted for Tapestry.

There are better albums listed, but my vote goes to Santana III, my favorite on the list. I didn't realize it hit #1. Some jaw-dropping guitar solos on that one. And wasn't Neal Schon something like 15 years old when it was recorded??

Some nice titles there but it has to be Sticky Fingers for me.

Difficult choice. I went with Pearl, but I see I'm in quite the minority!

My vote went to Sly's "there's A Riot Goin' On" - brilliant funk filled album. 2nd Sticky Fingers and 3rd 4 Way Street.
