My WG PDO (for US) is Swan Song cat# SS 8512-2 Barry- thanks for the update and explanation. One of us will update "the list" soon.
Hi Barry- you are credited with Gloria Loring's self titled CD on the Atlantic label (1986). I haven't listened to it yet, but do you know if that credit is accurate?
Hi jh901, If I did that one (which is entirely possible), I'm afraid the associated memory cells must have departed long ago. Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com
Rick, I once had an old AC/DC "Back in Black" CD with a different (inferior) mastering, so not all old CD's are the same.
What is the total playing time (in EAC) of Barry's version of "The Long Run"? The WG Target is 42'35".
Barry has said he was incorrectly credited for mastering Trilogy (and I suspect the S/T album as well). Maybe Stephen Innocenzi did these two?
Hi John, I did? Thanks. I don't even remember. Perhaps some memory cells for that one were still around a couple of years ago and I remembered not doing it. No memory of it now. It was sooooo long and sooo many albums ago. Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com
LOL Barry - maybe it's my memory cells that have decayed? I think someone may have sent you a copy of the Atlantic mastering of Trilogy and you had commented that it didn't sound like your work - too bright (much like the S/T album).
Correct. In addition I have a Sanyo Japan in a Jewel Box, which seems to be an anomaly of sorts. My guess is Island stuck remaining Japan discs in Jewel Boxes at the tail end of the 1st press run or start of the 2nd?
I suppose I shouldn't admit to having never listened to ELP, but I happened to have an early (or first) US issuance (Japan JVC) of Trilogy. I ripped it into flac and fired up the Transporter. Holy cow! Now that's a wide deep soundstage. The drum intro on "The Sheriff" was startling when that drum broke right through the thin air in the middle of the soundstage (and then the expletive is pretty funny...missed a beat, huh?). Anyhow, it is a pretty good mastering, but I don't really associate the sound with that of Barry's. It is a bit on the bright side even though I didn't mind that too much. It wasn't harsh. I'm no expert, so some you may have better insight. Are we sure about Brain Salad Surgery? If so, then I'll try to track that one down to compare.
War was in a digipak? I didn't know this! I have Boy, October and Under A Blood Red Sky in digipaks. The hunt begins!
I have yet to see a Phil Collins CD with a mastering credit for Barry...how can I tell which ones he did? BTW listening to Desperado right now...fabulous!
Does anyone know when Barry left Atlantic? I have the following CD with a mastering credit to "Atlantic Studios": Velvet Underground, The Loaded Warner Special Products Cat# 9-27613-2 (1987; Made in Japan by JVC for the US)
