U2 - October 422-842 297-2 Mastered by Barry Diament U2 - Live Under a Blood Red Sky A2 90127 Mastered by Barry Diament U2 - Live Under a Blood Red Sky 7 90127-2 Mastered by Barry Diament For what it's worth, my copy of U2's War 422 811 148-2 states that it was mastered by Phil Brown at Warner Bros Recording Studio L.A.
The UABRS I got was the old European issue. I wanted the full version of the Electric Co. Shoot ... just those 2 ...
Well I got the unremastered (1990 date listed on Amazon) AC/DC High Voltage in the mail today that I ordered from an Amazon seller. The good news is the disc, case, and artwork are totally mint as described. The bad news, it is not the Atlantic disc but rather a U.S. pressing on the ATCO label. I assume this is not Barry's version is it as I think Barry only did the old Atlantic label CD right? Did the Atco predate the Atlantic? Has anyone compared to old Atco to the unremasted Atlantic CD? The number is ATCO 36-142-2. Thanks ahead of time for any info on this one.
Hi Yardbird, I don't know if there was another mastering of "War" but I did (what may be the original CD release?) that one, "Boy" and "October" early on. At the time, all three, when I saw them, were issued in digipaks (paper), not jewel boxes. "Under A Blood Red Sky", which I did some time after the first three, was if I recall correctly, issued in a jewel box. Hope this helps. Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com
My 36-142-2 copy has a light blue ring around the front face of the disc and this matrix: 3 36142-2 SRC+03 M2 S6. The booklet also mentions Barry's name: CD Mastered By Barry Diament, Atlantic Studios. Given the matrix code, booklet credit, and the good old "The music on this Compact Disc was originally recorded on analog equipment..." disclaimer on the back insert, I think this disc is the one you want Here's my post from earlier in this thread regarding Barry's AC/DC discs:
AC/DC - High Voltage AC/DC - Let Their Be Rock AC/DC - If You Want Blood You've Got It AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap AC/DC - Highway To Hell AC/DC - Back In Black* AC/DC - For Those About To Rock* AC/DC - Who Made Who So if Barry did all of these, why not Powerage and 74 Jailbreak? Any speculation on who did master those two?
I'm trying to collect the Diament versions of the Bob Marley Catalogue. I have apparently made an incorrect assumption that the pre-remaster versions from Amazon sellers with the default date of 1990 were all Diaments. I just got the copy of "Natty Dread" I ordered in the mail today. It is on the Island label, not the Tuff Gong label that the others I have received so far have been with Diament clearly credited for the mastering. There is no mastering credit on the Island version of Natty Dread. Catalogue number is 7 90037-2. Funny thing is the spine of the CD is very similar to the Tuff Gone versions with the white spine, black lettering, and rainbow colored area at the top. What do I have exactly and does anyone know who mastered this one. Thanks Bob Marley - Catch A Fire* Bob Marley - Burnin'* Bob Marley - Natty Dread* Bob Marley - Live!* Bob Marley - Rastaman Vibration* Bob Marley - Exodus * Bob Marley - Kaya* Bob Marley - Babylon By Bus* Bob Marley - Survival* Bob Marley - Uprising* Bob Marley - Confrontation* Bob Marley - Legend* Bob Marley - Rebel Music*
Yesterday I played the Dirty Epic/Cowgirl EP by Underworld. When looking at the credits I was pleasantly surprised that it said that it was mastered by Barry Diament. So this seems another one for the list. It's on TVT/Wax Trax with catalogue number tvt 8722-2.
There were Marley CDs issued before the Diaments. It must be one of them. The consensus was that they don't sound as good as the Diaments. I don't know who mastered them.
Barry said he did 'something' by Dr. John and I'm wondering if he is referring to this title... 'The Ultimate Dr. John' Warner Special Products 9-27612-2 I thought since he did the Ultimate Rascals and the Ultimate Otis Redding which were released around the same time he perhaps did this one too.
Barry, just thought I'd say thanks for doing Linda Ronstadt's "Simple Dreams". I just can't see how her voice could be mastered any better. Such nicely controlled sibilants. What a fantastic job!!!! Any memories about this one?
Hi John, Thank you for your kind post. I'm afraid there are no memories on that particular project, other than my being happy about working on some albums Linda did. Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com
A memory cell lit up! It was "Welcome To The Pleasuredome". Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com
Barry, Just got a copy of CSNY's So Far CD in the mail today...WOW !!! I've never heard them sound better ! even on vinyl. Thank You, Mike Z.

Hi jh901, "Electric" sounds familiar. Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com
The catalog numbers for Work Of Art's "Lift" and Markus Schwartz & Lakou Brooklyn's "Equinox" are both only for the 24/96 DVD-V versions. Because Soundkeeper releases in multiple formats, I tend to think of the catalog numbers for the albums themselves as SR001 and SR002 respectively. The "thousands" column indicates the format, as outlined below. The CD version of each are in our "1000" series (SR1001 and SR1002 respectively). The CD-Rs are the 2000 series (SR2001 and SR2002 respectively). 24/96 DVD-Vs are 4000 (e.g. SR4001 and SR4002). 24/96 .aif and .wav files-on-disc are 6000A or 6000W (e.g. SR 6001A, 6001W, 6002A and 6002W) 24/192 .aif and .wav files-on-disc are 8000A or 8000W. So, the items in the list shown in post #122 are actually the DVD-V versions only. Thanks. Best regards, Barry www.soundkeeperrecordings.com www.barrydiamentaudio.com
