Thanks for clarifying, Steven. Can't wait to hear what you do for these. Oh, and I second the motion that you must work your magic on Trilogy, please.

Thanks Steven! Your work with the King Crimson, Caravan & Tull titles has been superb. What a treat it has been to hear these classic LPs in 5.1.

    Can't wait for the ELP!

Isn't it great?! I bought both yesterday and couldn't believe I was getting essentially two for the price or less than one I suppose.

Again, I thank the OP for bringing this to our attention. Very un-selfish of you, sir! It's saving us all on the forum. Very much appreciated!

Will the DVD have high res stereo? (No High Res 5.1 if just a DVD and not a DVD-A I guess?)

Seems strange that the record companies will fund the creation of 5.1 mixes and not release them in lossless?

Will the DVDs be DVD-Audio discs (with MLP Lossless 5.1), or at the very least have a DTS 96/24 track? I'd hate it if these reissues ended up being Dolby only like the Caravan one. What a waste for such a good mix to end up being released like that...

Thanks for the update, Steven. I hope the occasion arises that you really do get to work on Trilogy. To hear "From The Beginning" in 5.1 would be something I would greatly cherish.

If, at a later date, we are lucky and Trilogy should be announced and Steven gets to work on it, let's start another specific thread for that one so that nobody misses the boat on the announcement. Now that people can put in their pre-orders for these, there might be some people who may not revisit this thread that much and end up missing some updated news down the line.

5.1 lossless is possible on DVD-Video!

5.1 lossless PCM is possible also on DVD-Video!

Quadraphonic Quad just posted a Q&A with Steven on their forum. Here's a Q&A about the new ELP mixes:

Could you elaborate a little further on your answer, Steven? For example, since the multitracks to "Tank" and "The Three Fates" are missing, will those be upmixed to 5.1? And will "filler" tracks like Jeremy Bender and Are You Ready Eddy have new stereo and 5.1 mixes?
And any chance these will be DVD-Audio (or at least have DTS 96/24)?
Also, I hope you have been (or will be) working on Trilogy as well... :)

Has anyone seen any updates on the Razor And Tie release schedule (i.e. the US release dates)?

Does this mean a brand new mastering or just the last one they did?

Thanks Steven for the info... can't wait to hear your mix. Do you also have remastered the album (CD 1) beside the remix? Or is that... the Shout Factory or Sony mastering?

    ELP 5.1 format??

Does ANYONE have a way to find out what format the ELP 5.1 discs are being released in? We are all pre-ordering these "box" sets and there is no description of the format. That is not fair to the people who have committed to spending their money. If it IS Sony involved, and these "box" sets are listed on Amazon UK as being Sony releases, they would NOT be DVD-Audio and even Sony has stopped making SACD compatible DVD players so they would probably not be SACD. But what else would you expect from a company that has it's collective head of their asses.

SONY does make SACD compatible Blu Ray players, but it's safe to these would not be SACDs.

But ya, would be nice to know the details for the DVD.

    DVD-Video?
Multi-channel uncompressed PCM is possible with DVD-Video also.

Technically possible but I haven't seen a single commercial DVD with a 5.1 PCM track so I woud rule it out. I think the 5.1 mixes will be either DTS or Dolby.

    That's likely the correct scenario.

Are the Razor & Tie versions the same as the upcoming Japanese HQCD releases coming on May?

The first one hopefully, probably DTS Digital Surround 96/24.

Where is this pre-order? I don't see it anywhere, not amazon(usa or uk), not burning shed, and not on the band website...
