These days I am pretty well getting all my discs over the net. So whether it comes from Europe or North America doesn't really matter. Maybe a few days difference for delivery.

Well, since my car plays DVD-As in 5.1 & does not play SACDs (since there is STILL NO car SACD players--brilliant move  ), I care DEEPLY! :D

It's been a long week. This SACD arrived at home on Monday morning (23rd) and I didn't get home until a couple of hours ago (27th).

To my immense relief it sounds a lot better than the LP does on a friend's Linn Sondek. I've listened only to the surround version - I expected everything and it hasn't let me down.

Easily the best I've ever heard it.

Now that makes a lot of sense. I don't have a player in the car yet.

It sounds teriffic in the car Larry! ;) When you hear the chorus vocals from "Why Worry" coming at you from all over your TL, you will be very impressed! IT's very church-like.

On a side note: is there any software to author 5.1 LPCM DVD-videos? I can author DVD-As with them, but not regular DVDs.

I don't think the DVD transport has the bandwidth for full-motion video at the same time as lossless 5.1.

If it's a hybrid disc, you can play the cd layer, or not?

That's what I've read. It seems SPDIF might not be able to handle the bandwidth, but you could maybe have lossless 5.1 with still screens.

Of course he can play the CD layer but we are talking surround capabilities here.

I just got and I'm playing it in my 2000ES and it sounds pretty damn good. I'm listening to it in 2 ch. It doesn't sound too bright to my ears like the EJ titles did.

I can tell it's an original digital recording. It totally sounds digital. It's almost like the DSD is so transparent you can hear the actual tape, or whatever they used. And my player ain't the best either!
I'm not even that much of a fan of this record but I bought it anyway.
This is the first version of the record that I've ever owned.
    Sounds good.

I got this in yesterday and after a cursory listen, it sounds phenomenal in 5.1. I'll give the redbook layer a spin today. The multi-channel mix is done very well. No slapping sounds into the rears for effect, more like "enhancement" sounds from what I can hear. Vocals locked into the center. I do agree with a few comments that the drums aren't all that well recorded.

It is....."single inventory" means no cd is being released alongside it. JUST the SACD hybrid.

That's the release date for the "special edition" digipak. The standard Canada release is May 31 (tomorrow).

    Amazon says:
Shipping estimate for these items: May 31 2005
    Delivery estimate: Jun 6 2005 - Jun 9 2005 1 "Brothers In Arms (20th Ann. Ed"
    Audio CD; CDN$ 17.99

Even more interesting about that new HFR.com article is the tracklisting. "So Far Away" is listed as track 1. Is this correct?

OK, now I'm intriqued! There has to be a backstory to this. For those who have the SACD, do the liner notes explain the difference?

Just got my copy from cd-wow in the mail, so those of you who ordered from them should hopefully get them today. Only problem is my baby is sleeping right now, so no demo just yet. Can't wait to fire it up.
