Deep Purple "History, Hits & Highlights '68-'76" review by Alexander Kane (Deep Purple Juke Box Jury)

This four hour plus collection is not easily described without sounding ungrateful or inaccurate, at least not without first weighing up the contents and presentation, while trying not to over-use the word 'inconsistent'. The Jekyll and Hyde presentation means that some otherwise brilliant performances are often either badly labelled, badly presented, badly edited or bits of all three. It will still be welcomed with open arms, but I feel that there are far too many 'ifs' and 'buts' in the production values for it to be viewed as an unqualified success.

  2. I'm not a massive fan by any stretch (my fave album by far is "PERFECT STRANGERS") but I enjoyed this DVD set and hope there's a follow-up at some point.
