Andrew Manze is a superb violinist. It is nice to see someone who has not gone crazy over the new sensations like Julia Fischer and Hilary Hahn. At least Julia Fischer is quite an attractive babe ...

Excellent set with outstanding sound. This set and Brautigam's other set on Mozart Piano Sonatas, also performed on fortepiano and released by BIS have really changed my view on fortepiano. My earlier Haydn fortepiano recordings by Andrea Staier really did not impress me, though one of those recordings command big buck since it is now OOP.

It is always nice to see someone spinning his vinyl. I have some 4000+ LP's, which I play quite infrequently ...

Now playing CD3 from this set, which arrived last week for a first listen. So far, it is not clear if this set is better than the earlier set recorded by Hewitt in the 90's, which I also have in my Bach collection ...

Doesn't matter you can't see Her while your listening to the CD anyway!

In this set you will find one of the best 3rds and 9ths around and superb 4th and 7th (as with all Haitink's 4ths and 7ths). Great set!

The price can only go higher since this recording is probably OOP. I generally do not like CD that features works from more than one composer. It is a challenge to file and to locate such recording ...

    You're very welcome!

That (albeit incomplete) set is one of my top picks. Up there with Gulda and Annie Fischer. The slow movements are to die for. :agree:

It’s not radically different from the previous set. Overall, the new set has more nuance and is a better piano sound, IMHO.

That was the second CD title released by EMI (at least for classical).

    9 Euros for this set?

If it is, it is the bargain of the decade ...

I am pretty close to the completion of my WTC collection, which now stands at 13 versions (between harpsichord and piano). There are perhaps 3 or 4 more versions I am looking to acquire.

It also does not appear to be one of the more popular recordings by Christopher Hogwood or else the asking price for a new one would have been even higher ...

I only recall gearing the Devils Sonates by Andre manze, rthat was first class obviousely, will check that with the artisst on the cover necz..I like those mediaval paintings.

my most played piano recording at the moment comes courtesy of Vlado Perlemuter (again, even though the first listening was not as convincing as that Mozart set), there is something strong and super fast in the way he flexes his fingers to get exactly those tones from the piano he wants. Since these are Etudes the melodies often sound similar, just the intensity changes and that is in itself very exciting to listen to. I never get tired of his playing...

Yeah I agree 100% on that!
But can't always have the best of both worlds I guess.

Yeah I file with this below and it is a Challenge at times.
But I love the program and wouldn't be able to keep track with out it.
I have 241 in my collection so far and climbing weekly!

Bought this today. Had to order through an amazon seller, as my local store was sold out.
