    Cool!! :righton:

However, 35DP 3 - Boz Scaggs' "Middle Man" is not pictured correctly. The Boz Scaggs CD pictured in your album is "Hits", which is catalog number 35DP 11.

  4. I have a question: If these CD's were all pressed in 1983 do they all still actually play?

Thank you, Lownotes! I've been looking for my copy of that for years -- apparently long gone. IIRC, there were some other titles in early CBS catalogs that mistakenly used the Mastersound LP artwork (in the catalog, not on the actual CD product).

First, they weren't all pressed in '83. Some of the discs shown here were probably pressed as late as '85. CBS/Sony kept many 35DP and 35 8P catalog numbers active for a few years. In any case, yes, these discs still play just fine. I have hundreds of discs from '85 and earlier, and they all play perfectly.

Not just still play, in many cases those early presses are the best source available on CD, so they sound much better than their remastered counterparts, still playing and playing really good!

OK. As a public service, here is the revised list of the first 50 35DP titles. Very nice :)
My 35DP-2 has just "101" in the matrix after the cat.#. CSRX3 in the hub. An early - but not earliest - pressing.

Possibly the fact that the original master tape was intended to fit on the LP: two sides, the interesting thing is that it was indexed, so in the properly device you can follow every track recorded inside of those two tracks, only in this original japanese version and in the earlier Japan for USA you can find this feature, the which makes so desirable both versions.
