    Thanks Prix.

In between this and screwing over Shawn in the animated avatars thread, I've had a bad day at SH.tv...

Sorry, buds. I've learned my lesson.

And anyone can PM me as well for information on these mono tracks...

There you go again! Bad Parkertown! Put down the keyboard now. You are hereby sentenced to 40 listenings of Astley's "Who Sell Out".

Nah, it's no sweat. A Gort woulda caught that animated av soon enough, anyway....as for the clip, yeah, you can post some of it...on your own site, you can post ALL OF IT, that's fair use, but best to keep that site available through PM info....

It's Ok to post such things on some sites, not on others and, understandably, it would be a sensitive issue here for Steve....

That may be true, Parks....but that cool as hell animated Cecil Taylor avatar you posted more than made up for your inexcusable incompetence.:D That little gif went straight to my desktop!

  6. I'm not Leppo, but I play one...

25 second excerpts of the more familiar stereo version of "Mr. Soul" followed by the mono single mix. Neil's guitar solo kicks butt on the mono version. :righton:

I played with the pitch a wee bit in CEP to try and match the speed with the stereo version. My Atco/Quality Canada 45 is much faster than the stero version.

Buffalo Springfield - Mr. Soul - stereo - mono

We've got to do something about the preservation of these precious mono mixes. They're all collecting dust in a vault somewhere. :shake:

Wish I still had my ATCO 45. Of course, I dumped it when I got the AGAIN LP in 1969.

    Silly me.

I've heard that extended version of Bluebird so many times, which is great on its own terms, but it was a pleasure hearing this mono version. How many version of Bluebird have been released?

So how many different versions of Mr. Soul are there? Is this accurate?

    Mono mix
    Stereo mix
The alternate take version that was issued by mistake
The alternate take from acetate that's on the Buffalo box

    Forum friends,

I've simply been overwhelmed by your interest in these mono mixes and appreciate all the kind words that I've received via PM. Again, you're welcome! :agree:

Also, information is still available regarding these tracks. So, don't hesitate to contact me via PM if you missed out earlier.

It was probably saved for the "upcoming" Neil Young box set ;-)

    Friends,

For those who are extremely interested in this mono mix, as of last night there were two 'buy it now' copies of this 45 on ebay for $4.

I'm sure of that....but I just figured it fell under the "don't ask, don't tell, don't mention it in public until all the Gorts have it saved to their hard-drive" amendment in Section 45.M of the SH Forums handbook.:D

Thanks, miike! That's a real treat to hear this. The mono version grows on you, I'd really like to get a copy of this. Another great version of this song.

Yes, it does sound very different indeed. In this legendary mono mix, the bass guitar has an even dirtier Fender Precision tone and an overall greater impact!

BTW, yes these mono mixes are unique to this ATCO 45 and are preserved here in 16 bit mono .wav files. :agree:

Come on! This is one of my all time favorite songs. Where'd the link go. Can I get a download or something...please!
Remember me, I'm the guy that posted Mr Soul as the song that best captures the 60s.

PM Lep, I'm sure he'll give it to ya...:)

But for $4 on eBay, if I needed a copy, I'd be a-scramblin' over there....I'd need the piece, not just the sound....
