Are you saying that the original record wasn't cut from the analog master? Just curious...

For the record, there is some compression on the CD layer that is not found on the SACD layer. I am not sure why they would do this, but they did.

Nothing would surprise me about those guys. So, skip the CD section and just play the DSD part. It's the best sounding version of a truly wonky sounding master.

So did I. They were being given away on Amazon UK or some other online retailer (HMV?) at the time for 13GBP with three SA-CDs already inside.

    Don't have the MFSL version.

  14. To be honest the 2015 LP sounds really nice too, presumably cut from the same high res file?

Yes, but I didn’t understand why you think I can answer it.

As it happens I only own two of the MFSL SA-CDs. Freewheelin' and Blonde on Blonde. They’re alright, I suppose, I don’t have any strong feelings about them.

These days I’m truly hooked on vinyl once more and have scarcely played a CD in four years. Was there an MFSL of Nashville? I have no idea.

About four weeks ago and to my astonishment I won yet another 1968 CBS UK copy of Blonde on Blonde on eBay - one of these charity houses selling. I got it for next to nothing, nine quid, I think.

When it arrived -oh boy -it turned out to be near-mint and I’ve been playing it ever since. The least distorted copy I’ve ever owned. Hard then, to motivate myself to put on an SA-CD ...

That’s correct, it does sound terrific.

  17. It's not that noticeable and hardly offensive compared to most modern CDs.

The MFSL is darker and warmer than the 2002 SACD, with more bass.

The MFSL NS SACD came out 2015, MFSL Nashville Skyline vinyl - 2016.

Maybe somebody's got all three variants + original Colombia vinyl ..be a interesting shoot-out!!!!!

For me the two best Dylan albums for production /sound are Nashville Skyline and Pat Garret soundtrack( Knocking On Heaven's Door)

What's wonky about it? There's a 192/24 hi-res version put out a few years back, and at the time people said they were flat transfers. Am curious what to listen for... or will I know it when I hear it? :D
