I have the same thing. It was a one-time deal in 1988, if I remember the year correctly. It's possible they did it other times, but I don't remember it. I was still a vinyl member back then, and if you paid the regular price that one time for the Selection of the Month, whatever it was in your music category (in my category, Debbie Gibson's Out of the Blue sticks out in my mind as the "Selection of the Month" that month), you'd get a 2-Free-For-Life coupon. Even when my club membership was converted to CDs, the 2-Free-For-Life offer stayed intact. Faithfully, once a year, I get a card. I have years worth of the postcards now (they have no visible expiration date); alas, there doesn't seem to be a way to redeem them online.

If you join using the $4.99 link, those 4 CD BN sets are $19.96. Grant Green for me soon!

The $4.99 link is on page two of this thread. The Dylan box is only $79 when using that! :righton:

    Hi,

When I go to the $4.99 link, I am sent to yourmusic's website and the price is $5.99. Was this only a one day special?

    Thanks

If you've visited the site before, you have to clear your cache. You may also have to delete the cookie from yourmusic.com but I am not sure if that's necessary.

Of course I know that. It's still a steal at $4.99 shipped. And even though I have the 4CD RCA box and the 2CD RCA best-of, I'm still getting it A) because the sound is supposed to be markedly better (how could it be worse?) and B) for the bonus tracks on the second CD.

I signed up originally at the $5.99 per disc pricing and couldn't coerce my existing account to get the $4.99 pricing no matter what I did.

So I went to the email customer service part of the website and wrote them as follows:

"A friend of mine gave me the following link to sign-up for
    yourmusic.com:

    http://a.chtah.com/a/hBBnRfiAT9DbEAT9NMMAEY28iSa/ym1

I notice that this link gives $4.99 per disc pricing rather than the
$5.99 per disc pricing that I have been paying.

Can you please switch my account to the lower pricing without my having
to quit and rejoin the club?"

Within 24 hours they wrote back:

    "Thank you for contacting yourmusic.com.

We have received your inquiry regarding the current pricing on
    yourmusic.com.

Your account has been converted to the $4.99, offer you requested.

    Thanks for shopping at yourmusic.com."

Pretty good customer service. I'm impressed.

I didn't ask for them to give me retroactive credit (in spite of the fact that I've bought a ton of discs in the last month since I signed up). I figure that I made a purchasing decision weighing cost vs. benefit and bought accordingly. They've agreed to give me the lower pricing on future purchases and I'm quite satisfied.

    Wow, Emery, that's fantastic!

I made another box set purchase yesterday, right on the heels of one I made the day before. I am no expecting the arrival of four(!) box sets and a double album. I feel like Stan's father in South Park in the Wallmart episode, "These prices... can't resist..."

I just followed your lead and sent virtually an identical email to customer service. I'd be interested in knowing how many Hoffmanites yourmusic.com has received emails from along these lines... :p :D

I sent them an email about their cataogue, knowing it wouldn't actually accomplish anything, but here it is with their response for your collective academic interest:

As a new customer, I think this service looks great and I've already
    ordered quite a few items.
I would like to know if you plan to expand your catalogue of jazz box
sets. I've already ordered three, but there are so many more I'd like
that you don't have (especially complete Riverside sessions). I find
    it
curious that you carry the Sonny Rollins Prestige set (which I bought)
and not the Miles Davis Prestige set (which I would buy in a
    heartbeat).
    Thank you

    Hello Michael,

    Thank you for contacting yourmusic.

At the yourmusic.com website, there are over 14,000 popular titles to
search and choose from offering a considerable collection from a
    variety
of listening interests and music genres.

Because there are a wide range of musical preferences and tastes we aim
to include as much of the music everyone wants to buy.

It was especially nice of you to take the time to share
your favorite artists. We always do our best to respond to your wishes
without delay. Of course, we can offer only those artists and labels
with whom we have contracts. Hopefully we will continue to expand our
repertoire as subscribers express their listening preferences.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance on this
    matter.

    Sincerely,

    Malinda H.

Earlier today I was checking out ebay and amazon and half.com, the usual haunts, for Thelonious Monk's Complete Riverside box set. It cannot be found for cheaper then $170. If yourmusic.com had it, it would be priced at $74.99. It makes me weep.

Bam! That was fast! Within 10 minutes of my email, I got an email from yourmusic.com agreeing to convert to $4.99. Cool...

If I had the money, 2 of my first purchases at yourmusic.com would definitely be the 2 Ministry Years comps of Keith Green's complete catalog.
