What if we're looking at it wrong. Perhaps they didn't invent "heavy metal," but more like, a bunch of idol worshipping bands ripped off their sound.

  3. What is the difference, influence is influence.

In the same light I don't think any single band invented anything usually there is evolving/devolving going on in a given era amongst many bands: Crushed Butler, Budgie, Uriah Heep, MC5, Blue Cheer were all mining a similar sound at same time.

Indeed. And tracks 1 through 8 would presumably be the redbook layer with the original stereo mix of the album. So far, so good. But then disc 1 becomes entirely redundant, does it not ? I could understand if they had remixed the album for 5.1 and 2 channel SACD, and included the remixed version on the redbook layer--but that surely can't be the case, can it ? So why duplicate the original stereo mix ? One possible explanation would be that the redbook layer on the SACD is a new mastering from the DSD stereo master. But even then, would it be different enough to justify a 3-disc set ?

I wonder if any of this is just speculation.

That's pretty strong language, therockman. Are you a lawyer ?

Well, I took your above post for granted. Am I a lawyer ? :)

Yeah, but I already pre-ordered it in hopes that it is an SACD. At least I put my money where my proverbial mouth is.

I love how they make such a fuss over it being such a "rare" thing to have the Quad version of this album.

I have the Quad 8-track, the CD-4 LP and a DTS conversion from the Quad Reel....

It can't be rare if I own it.... I'm just some bohunk for the middle of podunk ::laugh:

Some fans don't have the same "friends", ebay accounts or online know-how as you.

I must say that those posting in this thread about have 3 SACDs in the package is quite amusing to me I don't want to correct the error.

I'm a fan of the quad mix of this album played back in stereo from the WB CD-4 LP. All the tracks are better mixes imo except the title track Paranoid.

I would guess alt takes. I hope this issue is for real even being that I did my own needle drop of the CD-4 Quad album last year and spent a few long sessions hand declicking the fricking thing.

Interesting that with the dying decay of the music industry we keep getting bigger deluxe editions and rare live recordings.

The "2009 SACD" thread mentioned it being pushed back to February and possibly having some legal issues.
