Adding to my previous question (and considering we are talking about the best digital versions of BIll Evans Trio), I’d like to know if somehow has compared Waltz on HDTracks directly with other versions. I’ve seen comments in other threads but I’d like to know this from someone who know most of the previous editions. Could the HDTracks release be considered the best digital version available for Waltz?

    Responding to myself :)
I've purchased Waltz from HDtracks UK in 24/96, and I'm very satisfied with this version.
I can only compare it to the Complete VV Recordings 1961, which sound a bit darker and with a slightly different stereo image. The HDtracks version is more airy and there's less separation between L-R channels. It sounds more 'there', happening in front you. I haven't heard the Gold CD though.

    After all these years, my go-to CDs are;

Everybody Digs - XRCD and VDJ
    Portrait in Jazz - DCC
    Explorations - XRCD and VDJ
Sunday at The Village Vanguard - XRCD (stunning!)
Waltz for Debby - AP 24K and VDJ

Wondering if there are any opinions of the original Waltz For Debby OJC CD versus the 2010 reissue? I’ve got a vast Bill Evans collection with a few Keepnews Collection remasters that I thought were quite nice. I typically get older 80’s-90’s CDs but am leaning towards just getting the 2010 in this case. I do own the 2011 OJC vinyl which sounds nice.

Thanks Steve, sorry I meant 1987 (or 1992) OJC versus the 2010 OJC?

Cool, thank you and that’s my general rule although I was impressed with a few of the Bill Evans later remasters. I will search out an early one.

Don't be afraid of the old yellow Japan JVC CD's either. Not sure if they did any Bill Evans.

Yes, agree, I have quite a few JVC Japanese Jazz titles from around 1985-86 and they are quite nice.

The earliest ones were imported to the US and sold with a tiny sticky tag instead of obi. I have Way Out West in the style.

Well looks like according to my Discogs collection I may only have 5 Japanese JVCs, thought I may have a few more. I do really like them though. I’m way late to the game on the XRCDs so I’m trying to scoop up all the affordable ones that I can right now. I’m very impressed with the 7-8 I’ve heard, they sound fantastic!

I assume so, I just stopped triple/quad/quint dipping since I already had OJCs, XRCDs, etc. etc.

John Coltrane- Coltrane, John Coltrane- Soultrane, Eric Dolphy at the Five Spot vol. 1, Kenny Dorham- Quiet Kenny, and Modern Jazz Quartet- Django

I thought I had a few more but perhaps I didn’t catalog them. For most of those I have numerous other pressings including SACDs so I need to revisit them soon.

Yep, they do sound good
I went on a VDJ collecting spree around 2013 or so, and it looks like I have 44 VDJs. I should probably start collecting them again.

    You have 44?? Excellent.

I don't have many JVC's (VDJ) disks, I got these from a fan in Japan.

    Bill Evans Trio/Explorations
Bill Evans Trio/Sunday At The Village Vanguard
Bill Evans Trio/Waltz For Debby (Forgot I had it!)
Sonny Rollins and The Contemporary Leaders
    Sonny Rollins/Way Out West
    Art Pepper + Eleven
Art Pepper Meets The Rhythm Section
    Art Pepper with Warne Marsh

All sound like straight transfers. I have NO idea what this stuff is going for now. If not much, grab what y'all can ESPECIALLY the Art Pepper + Eleven..

Very curious, does your WES/Full House have reverb on it, or is it bone dry?
