Never heard any of them. Are they RCA?

Have you compared it to the Analogue Productions SACD or SHM SACD by any chance?

They are all manufactured by JVC which IIRC at one point was RCA. Some of the old RCA titles are on XRCD. The Reiner CSO Dvorak 9th for example is on XRCD.

They're RCA "Living Stereo" recordings (Reiner for instance). The ones I had were mastered by Japanese engineers and sounded way too harsh to my ears; I sold them.

My question (crucial for me) is are they masterings of the original two channel reduction mixes of the era or new transfers from the three track? If the former, I'm interested. If the latter, forget it.

No, just the OJC. When I got the XRCD, I remember that it just killed the OJC, tonality of the piano much improved.

Forgot to mention that some of those Japanese XRCD masterings were used for the big Fritz Reiner box, which is a mishmash of masterings, older ones, newer ones, XRCD, etc.

I bought one of the "golden" RCA Living Stereo RCAs on XRCD. Sound was terrible; steely, mechanical...and far from analogue, lush sound.
    I don't remember if it was xrcd, xrcd2, xrcd24.

    It was Scheherazade (Rimskij-Korsakov)

Sonically those classical XRCDs are the opposite of the RCA "Living Stereo" hybrid SACDs.

I have tried to find info on the tape sources used and cannot determine what the XRCD team used. Can I compare the XRCD and the Living Stereo SACDs (from three track) and hear differences or would there be no discernable difference?

My apologies if this has been covered but I could not find the answer via a search. I was asked if thr XRCD reissue of Waltz For Debby hasthe same mastering as the original JVC disc. I replied , can someone supply the answer?

Are you referring to the VDJ series from the 1980s? If so, that series was not mastered by Alan Yoshida, but he did master the early XRCDs. Waltz for Debby is not one of the better ones if I remember correctly - the wrong tapes were used or something like that; I sold that one a long time ago.

I believe only 4 LS XRCD's were mastered by Yoshida and not from master tapes either.

I've recently found myself being trapped in his music and I don't seem to be able to get out... :)

Are the XRCD's considered being the best (SQ!) for the complete Bill Evans Trio catalogue including the following titles?
I've gotten my hands on the AP Gold CD for Waltz for Debby and that truly shines in my ears...

    1. Waltz for Debby
    2. At Shelly's Manne-Hole
    3. Moon Beams
    4. Sunday At The Village Vanguard
    5. Explorations
    6. How My Heart Sings
What digital versions do you prefer?

For me, the answer is simple: SHM-SACDs.

Because these digital versions best represents an analogue tape being played in front of me.

You have the best IMO. All of the XRCDs for the titles listed above and the AP Gold CD for Waltz.

SHM-SACD and XRCD's are the ones to go for, yes?
The AP Gold CD for WFD is the only one of the titles that i've got (used, but still), the rest I've just "auditioned" at Spotify.
What title's are available for purchase?
