Yasujiro, unfortunately, I don't have access to that Mosaic booklet at the moment, but it contained a quite a few black & white photos from the Jazztet sessions.

This was, however, the cover I had posted, showing the colour of those distinctive curtains. The photo is staged and all mics are gone, though.

Did Nola have a mono tape deck in, say, 1950 and 1960?

Of course in 1960, no idea when the place was built.

Came across some runout etchings on George Jones With Love MS 3194 I believe to be from there circa 1971. Happened to find this thread while diving into the history of Nola looking for a George Jones connection, I'm happy to share some of what I've got so far.

Originally a rehearsal location established in 1930, recoding at Nola Studios starts in 1934. Founded by Vincent Nola, later his son Tommy Nola joined the operation (1950's?). They opened a new location at 1657 Broadway in the 1940's for "noisemakers" (jazz/swing bands) while retaining the original location for "longhair" (classical & opera) work. The famous Penthouse studio was opened March 1960, although the Nola operation may have occupied the Steinway Hall Penthouse sooner. Nola was sold to Phil Johann in late 1969, at that time the Penthouse had a 4-track recording set up.

Are you sure? According to the liner note of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, the Monk session was done July 1959 at Penthouse Studio.
