I think the normal album cover is brilliant (see below), which is why I'd rather wait for that than get the alternate cover that's available on her site.
Here's some more info: Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter released internationally, includes covers of "Jolene" and "Blackbird" "Cowboy Carter is presented in the style of a country radio program (KNTRY Radio Texas, to be exact), with country music icons Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Linda Martell all taking turns as DJs". Thanks for the track list...looks interesting. The track "Ya Ya" supposedly will feature a Beach Boys "Good Vibrations" sample. I guess millions of people will find out who Linda Martell is now.
Being a kid who watched "Hee Haw" all the time back in the day, I probably saw Linda Martell on the show...I'd need a time machine to know for sure, though.
Forgive my ignorance, but is the album only available on streaming platforms? Can’t see it listed on Amazon or anywhere.
Let's just refresh ourselves that this woman actually comes from Texas, was often pictured early on in her career wearing Stetsons, and has even attended Rodeos going back years now: So really this is just a natural evolution for her, and surprising you could say, she hasn't done it sooner. Beyoncé has just as much right to operate and perform in the Country scene as the Aldeans of this world
Would you say that if Beyonce made a hip-hop/r&b Classical album? Fans of Classical would be rightfully annoyed.
Before someone else jumps all over me: I am actually a Beyonce fan. She's got chops and is a modern-day Tine Turner. With that said: I hate what has happened to country music. It's garbage.
Yes, there's 3 vinyl color variants (red, white & blue) available on her site with an alternate cover. To prevent early leaks (as her last album leaked), they're not shipping the vinyl to stores (amazon, target, indies, etc) until tomorrow. So they can't even sell it until after they receive stock, till about Tuesday.
Pretty sure fans of classical wouldn’t give two hoots. Lots of people have adopted classical music into rock and pop with varying degrees of success. Classical music seems, as yet, unaffected by such goings-on.
I think it looks interesting. I wouldn’t write it off until I’ve heard it. I think she’s the type who can rock it with whatever path she chooses to take. I liked the self titled album and the one she did with ol’ hubby. I meant to pick up ‘Lemonade’ and ‘Renaissance’, but haven’t got round to it. She’s pretty cool. Sorry - I mean “lit” (I think).
Just listened to "Blackbird". The acoustic guitar sounds exactly like the one on the White Album. It took me by surprise, as at first it sounds like someone just replaced Paul's voice with Beyonce's. There's foot-tapping throughout the song (again, sounding a lot like the White Album) and a few seconds of nice-sounding classical instruments starting one minute into the recording. It's really good cover version. Very faithful to the original recording and her voice is just gorgeous.
Also wrt that video of her at the Houston Rodeo in 2004, holy hell what a beautiful woman. Not that it's relevant but good god.
That’s crazy, most of the world‘s Lipizzaner population grow up in Piber, a small municipality that’s only 45 minutes away from my hometown Graz.
