So if this doesn't win "Album of the Year" at the Grammy's next year are we ever going to hear the end of it?
If only she had the originality to rhyme something with John Deere or Ford 150. That would really stand out on Country radio. Also, everyone knows that Texas already rhymes with "exes."
Lana's got a country inspired album due out later this year. Lana Del Rey Teases New Country Album Lasso
I wonder if it would be considered as real country. because there are already people claiming that Beyonce, is releasing a fake country album.
Beyonce is one of the best and most legendary modern artists. Her music is really good too, and easy to connect to a lot of the traditions we embrace here on the SHF. Her legacy is already cemented. A little surprise at all the negative replies lol...
You shouldn't be. This place loves to crap on pop stars, at least until they live long enough to be regarded as legacy acts and untouchable. Then get afforded some respect. Until then, every thread about them is knives out and threadcraps ahoy.
The not really country accusations being thrown at loads of artists over the past few decades. Every genre evolves and most genres evolve to the point earlier fans start gate-keeping their genre. It's a Beyonce album anyway, not a country album in that sense.
Given Lana’s track record for announcing things that never see the light of day I’m not holding my breath.
Meh. She seems highly manufactured and does nothing for me. But a lot of people like her, and that’s fine by me.
The beauty of rock and roll, and at the core of its origin, is that it was a blending of Black and white existing American musics. It was always rhythm & blues, blues, gospel, and country music. Plenty of our favorite artists, have been white musicians who availed themselves to rhythm & blues (The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who,) or the blues (The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) and with each album the root influence got harder and harder to hear - until it simply became their own; barely traceable to Chicago, the Delta, Detroit, or St. Louis. I'm 100% into the idea of Beyonce taking Country idioms, screwing them up into something different, and staking her birthright, American claim to this fabulous music.
She's had some big name colabs on most of her albums. Jack White did a song with her on Lemonade, which used enough music from Zeppelin to give them song-writing credit.
I’m excited to hear what she’s been working on. Her last album is my favorite of hers, and I love when artists take big swings.
I loved Texas Hold 'Em when I heard it and I love country music (it's a broad church people and there's room for y'all imo) so I'm rather looking forward to hearing this. I'm more looking forward to Lana's country album though.
