    Interesting.
Head spins in circles it will do you in.
Is this a "horrible" to what Steve recommends in this thread.

While we're talking, how about a CD/DVD package, featuring the Video Footage of the Band (The Only Footage Available of them at the time,BTW!) that was available for only a short time (In 1994)? Yeah, that'll do it! My mouth is already watering!:goodie:

What about the Japan 1st Pressing (20P2-2097)? Mine came with the OBI, so I'm thinking it might beat out all other versions, regardless of format.

Lol, why, because it's a first pressing? Because it's got an OBI?

You mean we don't have a consensus!? LOL.

I hope to track down an original Atco US issuance (likely, pressed in Japan or SRC or DADC?) at some point, but I don't expect it to surpass the MFSL. I'll be keeping both anyhow, so hey, maybe I'll be surprised.

To me the MFSL IGDV may very well be the worst MOFI CD I've ever heard. It's way way too loud. When cranked it turns to mush. For the money that disc commands it's a total rip-off IMHO. The inexpensive Rhino remaster sounds a bit better to me on the single edit but the same on the full length of the title track. Overall I prefer the original CD, it's the only one with some headroom.

I spent $2 on the vinyl and sold off the not so good MFSL on eBay for decent money. The sound on the MFSL is not proprotionate to the price.

Wow, opinions on this title are pretty split. We have members who prefer the original, the 95 Rhino and the MFSL versions. What to do?

The MFSL is my favorite, followed by the original U.S. Atco CD. However, I also have the Inglot remaster and Japanese 20P2 discs but haven't listened to them closely.

Does the 20P2 disc have the same mastering as the original U.S. Atco disc?

  25. Hello there and greetings from Soesterberg in the Netherlands.
CD's from different manufacturers can sometimes be identical in every respect. Ik you rip the audio files from the CD's into the computer from, say, the Rhino and the MFSL versions of IAGDV and the files have exactly the same size in bytes, then you are probably looking at identical files. You can go further and get Adobe Audition to check RMS values and stuff. If this too is identical then that's the clincher.

I have an early mint German vinyl of IAGDV on yellow ATCO. I played this on my Garrard 401/Ortofon arm/Ortofon MC10 moving coil/Ortofon MCA76 preamp vinyl engine and recorded it to my PC at 32 bits and 96 kHz. After declicking I burnt it to a DVD-Audio disc using Circlina software and played it on my OPPO DVD-A player. The only claim I can make is that I prefer listening to this than either Atco, Rhino or MFSL discs.

I also have the UK mono LP of this album. I was curious about sonic differences, or perhaps a special mono mix. In order to compare I used the MFSL files and changed them to mono by simple addition of the channels. This sounds almost exactly the same as the mono LP. From this I conclude that the UK mono vinyl is a simple stereo-to-mono folddown and not a separate mix made for mono. Its possible the USA DJ-Mono vinyl is different so if anyone has a copy, let us know!

    Best wishes
