Oh, believe me, I appreciate it. I actually went to a local Best Buy this morning and did not see a clearance bin, but I got the new Carpenters 40/40 compilation on sale for $14.99. :)

I found these in 'the bin' today at another BB... as well as on-the-shelf @ 25% off ''Strange Beautiful Music" SA-CD and Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father" DVD-A.

I plan on cabbaging 'A Chorus Line' for the gold slipcase.

When I asked the clerk if they had any more clearance discs in the back he told me they get a new box each week... food for thought.

    Filper,

Were these titles that you used to see in the stores?

You're finding discs I've never seen or, like the Chris Botti, never even heard of before.

The selection in BC was never that good, even at the peak.

    Long time no chat... :)

Actually you're right. I don't recall seeing these three before.

Wow, I wish Best Buy stores in the U.S. had SACDs on clearance. Heck, I'd take SACDs at full price. ;) I wonder where these discs are coming from. In the U.S., Best Buy stores had a sparsely stocked SACD section until around 2007 or so. Then the discs disappeared. I don't think they necessarily stuffed all remaining SACDs in with the CDs. Maybe some of these SACDs are discs that were pulled from their stores at one point.

I remember seeing the Botti, A Chorus Line, and Zebrahead SACDs in stores some years back. They were fairly common in the U.S. Best Buy stores here couldn't give the Zebrahead disc away.

Of those three, I only have the Botti disc. It's a great album, if you like softer jazz, which I do. :)

I'm hoping it has an SACD branded tray which is why I bought it. That and curiousity.

It was worth every penny I paid for it...:)

You can believe what you read sometimes. It's no gem.

I figured if it was a dud, I could use the narrow hinge case to buff up another disc, but the case was fooked too.

    Win some...

I like "A Chorus Line", but I only think I've played "Zebrahead" once - so I guess I did not like it that much. Can't even remember the style of music.

I'd love to have that Botti. That the only copy in the bin? :D

Makes you wonder why groups like this managed to get an album released on SACD when so many others with much more commercial appeal and familiarity did not.

Sony was trying to appeal to a wide audience with SACD. Of course, they should have considered how the majority of buyers of Zebrahead music were listening to it. Probably not at home on a quality system. When Sony released the Zebrahead SACD, they were only selling expensive ES players. The typical Zebrahead listener probably wouldn't have bought a non-ES model.

It's not even in all stores in Ontario and I would guess is limited to just a few locations in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). I checked the BB in London, Ontario today. No discount bin. They have re-arranged the CD section since I was last there, reducing it greatly in size. All of the CDs are now arranged in alpabetical order regardless of genre - so you can no longer just browse through the country, jazz or classical sections, for instance, to see if anything catches your eye, if you don't have a specific title in mind. The SACDs and DVD-As that were left have disappeared. The only good news is that they have extended their 25% sale off regularly priced CDs for another month until December 5th. I suspect BB wants to minimalize to single rack or even eliminate their CD department.

It was on the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack-- No idea if that was ever on CD. He did play the song on his recent tours, though.

    They are correct.

I was hoping the case was in good shape. It's hard to find the narrow hinge style.

I've visited most of the local BB's in the past week including 3 today.

    No discount bins anywhere :(

Did get a copy of Billy Joel's 52nd Street SACD at 25% off so it wasn't a wasted trip.

Don't feel too bad Blair, I hit five BB's around TO today and only two had bins...

I'm off again tomorrow to check out the rest.:righton:

The ones that do have the bins get a new batch each week.

I asked the clerk today at one store if they had any more in the back and he brought out the new box for me to dig through...

I also saw at least 10 Mono and 15 Stereo Beatles box sets.
