In 1969 they were informed of the possibilities of 4.0, as Capitol was mulling what quadraphonic formats they would be using in 1970. No word on their reaction, but John did agree to a quad release of "Imagine" in 1971.

Wouldn't a modern drum synth track layed over everything just do the trick? Someone get Britney's producer on the line... :D

Not to worry, Apple will offer a raft of Beatles ringtones for those short attention spans!

Hmm. Come Together doesn't really need changing though so they'd save money there.

Some people just want this thread to end. It's going in that direction.

    Not soon enough for me.

I've heard the interviews, he said he wasn't even all that fond of stereo. Nonetheless, when asked, he made a quad mix both times (Imagine, Walls & Britches).

As I recall, from briefly owning the Quad "Imagine" on 8-track cartridge, there was nothing much on the rear channels except orchestral overdubs mixed well down.

That is irrelevant for younger folks very much like it was for some of
us (back then beginning adolescence) in the early 80's when there was sort of a resurgence of "beatlemania" for the reasons we all know. As I pointed earlier in the thread at the start I found that stereo image a little weird but soon got used and even enjoy it as something different from the current style of mixing at the time, that happens to be not too different as now, my guess is that all this music needs to be fashioned among younger people is promotion and publicity, you can be sure most of people don't give a damn about extreme panning especially in music from 40 and so years ago which is supposed to sound different than the current music. I welcome new mixes but just if the original mixes stay in print.

Lennon wasn't personally involved with either quad mix even though he signed off on them.

There are two songs that come alive in certain sections, one is "Soldier", I don't recall the other.

My phone already rings "And Your Bird Can Sing." Don't need Apple to set that up for me.
I feel sorry for people who spend $3.00 for this privilege rather than figuring out how to do it themselves...

I am happy, middle-aged man with kids who are teens. They grew up listening to many different kinds of music. They like Beatles probably because they hear growing up with me. I also like some music they bring to me.

I read some of thread before and come back now and I don't understand why so much hatred of kids and new music. Beatles once were new too. Fear of the new is not good. Some of it is good and some is not. Just like some of old is good and some is not. Very bad to hold on to past too much. Very bad.

    Exactly.

Thread drift. Attacks against kids & new music. Personal attacks.

    This thread is toast.
