Beatles MFSL CD's - An Explanation?

If a recording has a copyright on it. It is illegal to copy and sell. The guy on ebay is a cheat and a thief, because the copies from MFSL are illegal.

David, I think you misunderstood our sentiment. If you want to have fun with cd-rs, great! You should see my mp3 cds with 150 songs by 150 different bands.
There is no excuse for selling them though.

The only thing worse is when someone steals MFSL's and EMI's logos to pass their cd-r's off as legitimate audiophile cds.

As to letting nice folks get fooled and ripped off because they should know better, I respectfully disagree with that theory. So many of them are new to the audiophile/remaster world and they should be respected as eventual torch carriers. They might choose to stay away after their first 'humbling' experience of getting burned on Ebay. You know, the fake gold ones? Got a great deal on the whole set? $400.

If you want to SELL unauthorized mp3's (or cd-rs), that is bad.
If you also want to lie and fraudulently advertise that they are MFSL or DCC product, that is even worse. Especially to the serious MFSL and DCC collectors.

I have trouble with "Let the buyer beware".
"Let the seller be legitimate" to me is more fair.

We are just out there helping the buyers become aware, and as you said, "educated".

I guess I better throw away all those bootleg CDs I have, like The Tommy Demos and Live At Leeds Complete.
