Beatles Box Sets Price Watch (Part 8)

I just bought one from the Best Buy site for $105. )

 

Really? I thought Best Buy shipped to U.S. only

 

Just picked up the mono box at the local Best Buy for $99.00. The box is tagged @ $219.00, and they ring it up for $99.00 at the register. Seems like they'd sell more of them if they were marked correctly on the shelf.

been lurking here for a while, but I just wanted to say thanks to this thread I bought this set at Best Buy yesterday and am very happy.

It must have been sitting on the shelf for a long time since it had a $299 price sticker on it...the girl at the counter seemed very confused.

 

Probably been sitting there since 9-9-09.

i got it i got it! whoo!!! very happy right now. listening to Please Please Me at the moment. an album i actually never owned before. go Ringo go!

love the packaging. its amazing. i kind of want to keep the back flat that came with the set, but it wont fit inside so i dont really have any place to put it.

i like the paper sleeves that came with the set, but im afraid that the cd's might get scuffed putting them in there. probably just being too anal, but i dont want to throw out anything that came with the box.

edit: thanks again to everyone for the thread and for clarifying that BB was still selling the box for 99. there was 2 at my local store, both marked at the correct price. one had a security wire around it and was all crushed though. im pretty sure the one i bought is probably the same one that ive held in my hands over a year ago when i was ogling it at the store. its in nice shape too.

I’ve finally pulled the trigger on one of these mono boxes today, my local BB had 4 of these sitting on the shelf. It was kind of a no-brainer, since last week I got a $100.0 BB gift card for my birthday. Price tagged at $219.0 (one of them had a $299.0 price tag!), but rung up at $99.0

 

convenient timing and amount on that gift card. congrats.

meh. it doesnt fit in the box, so im chucking it.


so question: why is Sgt. Peppers the only album where the title on the spine is printed going in the opposite direction from all of the others? is that the way the original packaging was, or just an anomaly?

And the white album reads 'stereo' on the spine....

Mine actually fits in the box, with no bending. In between the slide out tray and the box wall. To each his own though.

Just picked up my copy for $95 from Best Buy after using a 10% coupon I got in the mail from them. Solid deal.

 

Yes, Best Buy has 10% off coupons from today until May 30. Search on Google and a link should pop up. That makes an official box only $90!

 

YMMV. Most of the time BB won't allow coupons on sale-priced merchandise.

 

Technically the Beatles' mono boxes are on clearance pricing at Best Buy, which means the coupons should work. These sets are not on sale, Best Buy has repriced them to clearance inventory. It is their wacky P.O.S. terminals and the mysterious way they operate.

 

Oh great! I just returned from BB only to see the sale. Drat!

 

I thought this too, until I looked closer. The spine actually says "stereo," with the stereo catalog number, THEN it says "mono" and lists the mono catalog number.

 

Call back & have them save it...or...order it online...

doh. i got those coupons in the mail too, but assumed that they wouldnt work thinking that this was on sale, not clearance.

shoulda just tried anyways. oh well.

 

BTW, I went to Best Buy w/coupon to get the Petty Live set.
I'm 100% positive the web site, the other day, said $29.
At Best Buy, the box was there marked $29.99.
I went to check out and the register screen displays $129.99!
They had to get the manager, etc.
I quickly checked their website and lo and behold, its back to $129.99.
They ended up giving it to me for $29 but no coupon, of course.

So the morale of the story is, if you have interest in the Mono box at $99, don't delay.

 

Picked up the mono box set yesterday at Best Buy with a $25 gift card from my in-laws. Oh, and the Chinese Democracy vinyl for $1.99. Pretty good haul for around $85 bucks!
