Congratulations! As a fellow San Diegan who also purchased the mono box from Amazon and used the standard shipping option, I'm hoping for similar luck.

    Enjoy! :)

I'm sure you'll be fine, Brian. Have you checked the tracking number Amazon gave you?

Every few minutes, yes. :) It's due to arrive tomorrow, but I've had an inkling that it might arrive today. Your post has given me hope!

That said, I can wait until tomorrow. I'm still making my way through the glorious stereo box. I listened to the first seven discs before my daughter woke up and wanted to play. Fair enough! As part of our playtime, she insisted I put on With the Beatles and dance with her!

Yesterday, I walked into a local record shop downtown. They had one stereo box ($234.99) and one mono box ($269.99). They had them on top of the counter so I was able to actually "touch" them.

Today, I received my pre-ordered boxes from Amazon: a day earlier then expected, free shipping, perfect condition and about one hundred dollars cheaper.

Is amazon still the best deal for mono box?

No one answered this question earlier when I asked it, but, yes, I believe it is. I ordered it yesterday.

Do we know if the 3-6 week wait is accurate?

Mono set arrived today from Barnes & Noble. Looks way nicer than the stereo disks sold in stores. Has inner sleeves just like MFSL uses, and says "Capitol" no where except on MMT.

More pictures. Says "Printed in Japan" on lower right of the back label.

I saw your earlier post about the Mono box at BB on the Island, just curious-which BB store did you get it from?

Cases are bigger too, and don't have that goofy looking side panel. No Apple logo.

Now is that a sealer you provided on the Mono PPM or did it come in the box?

EVERYTHING about the mono box set is so right, whereas there is so much WRONG with the stereo issues.

    Worth...every...penny.

In terms of packaging, absolutely. Sure wish they would've put the stereo box discs in these cool mini-LP sleeves, too... :sigh:

Sorry if I didn't specify, but I did mean the packaging.

It really seems like Apple said to one group "Go make a stereo box set" and to the Japanese, "Go make a mono box set" and neither consulted the other on what they were working on.

The stereo individual issues and box set are just plain crummy. The mini-documentaries, the Quicktime logo on the discs, the lack of protection for the disc itself, the half-arsed choice in using a digi-pak w/o a hub - it is all bad.

The mono box is worthy of the music contained within. :righton:

Ain't it the truth. Almost like the difference between the domestic Capitol Albums Vol. 2 box sleeves (cheaper thin cardboard, non-gatefold single sleeve for Help, etc.) and the primo Japanese sleeves in their box...

lotta lamenting for the days of the local independent record store going on here, well the local independent record store in summit, nj has at least 1 mono box, it can be yours for $379. Way to build good will in the dying days of retail music. :hurl:

    American Capitalism at it's finest.
I'd bet they'll be holding on to it for a while, at that price.
