    The Capitol Albums, Volume 1

4-CD box set of original U.S. albums; likely to include "Meet The Beatles," "The Beatles' Second Album," "Something New" and "Beatles '65." All remastered, with no bonus tracks.

Although I wouldn't say this is set in stone just yet, it appears we are one step closer. I will still take this with a grain of salt as Amazon had the Let it Be dvd for pre-order two years ago. However, I'll believe it once Capitol/Apple release a statement.

Yep, it's part of their yearlong 40th anniversary celebration of the Beatles.

Although I'm looking forward to this, I can't believe a $69.95 list price for 4 CDs!

Wow! The Beatles' early US LPs and Clay Aiken's Christmas album released on the same day!

...but, it's the !!!!!BEATLES!!!!....;) the extra price was always a thorn, especially back in the 60's when Mommy & Daddy bought the albums...until my paper route came to play...then I bought my own...what a great feeling it was to spend my own earned money.:)

I have a hunch, based on a posting he made to the "Beatles Collectors" Yahoo group, that Bruce Spizer is involved with this. If this is true, at least the liner notes and/or booklet will be good!

DeepDiscountCD.com is taking pre-orders at $58.78. This thing must be real if all of these retailers are taking orders.

I sent an e-mail to my friend Rick Flynn at Red trumpet to ask him if he can find out anything for us.

If it is the US Capitol Beatles tapes, I'll buy it. If they take it from UK sources- forget it.

Hate to be a party pooper, but unless the sound is spectacularly improved - but how could it be if they're using the Dexter mixes? - I think this is one that I'll be passing on, especially at that price.

Excellent! To me, this box can only serve one purpose, to bring the US LPs to CD. I grew up with these. I'll definitely buy this box!

Quick, someone send them the Toshiba/EMI Abbey Road so they have an example of how to master on CD somewhat properly!

I think I'll be waiting on this one to confirm a decent mastering before I cough up that kind of money, but if it's confirmed to be good I'd happily spend the $60.00.

Does anyone know if the Dexter recordings are digital clones like the other Beatles on CD?

Far out! We're finally going to get a boxful of no-noised and maximized Dave Dexter CD's. I can hardly hold my breath! Yet another in a long line of quality products from the good folks at Capitol Records.

I am all for the US Beatles CDs ... but weren't there some re-channeled stereo tracks on some of these first 4 LPs? ... surely, they wouldn't include re-channeled stereo? ... if there are rs tracks and they don't use them ... who is going to Dexterize the revised tracks? ...

Hope your intel is wrong on this one, Mikey :) ... if I want to hear re-channeled Beatles, I don't have to spend $50+ ... I can put one of my $1 flea mkt LPs on the turntable ... sounds like I won't be pre-ordering this one ... even if I have to spend a little more in the long run ...

I predict this will be a very big seller (no surprise there). People will see the "remaster" tag and believe that they are getting a big improvement over the mid 80's CDs. I have never been more disappointed over an upcoming Beatles release.
