AXPONA for me this year will mostly be about speakers. Getting "ears on" of number of newer, highly regarded loudspeakers.
    Live room impressions will follow.

Magnepan has new X series speakers out. I'm guessing they will be its main 'unveiling' this year. If you go by its room, would like your impressions of X vs I series. X has better wiring/crossover.
Would also like your impression of Pure Audio Project Trio10 Heil AMT - how are the highs on these speakers?

Decided not to go. Too much spring work outside to do, no need for needless temptation. Just spent 17k on a new roof.

Stop in the Expo Hall and listen to SOTA’s new prototype direct drive playing through some KEF Reference 3 Meta’s. Tell Christan that MitsuMan said hello.

Checked in on the McIntosh and GoldenEar room and had to ask to hear them play. Way too much talking this year!
When they finally started playing the new T66 model sounded very nice. Smooth and clear and loud! However the bass from the active woofers was growly and disappointing. Too bad!

In the first Borresen speakers room the guy from Denmark was talking non stop for several revisits to the room. Good greif Charlie Brown!

Best sound so far was the Rogue Audio Magnepan room. The new 10k mags sound full range exquisite !

So Magnepan finally decided to try using better parts in their wiring and crossover? And it only took them 60 years.

Maybe it finally got tired of all these people offering mods (Danny Ritchie, Peter Gunn, etc) it decided to get and the game and offer upgrades on its own. Gonna cost $$$ though...

Were they using the Cronus Dark? If so, what are your impressions?

Yeah for the most part I don’t know how anyone could judge amps, pre amps and sources without having the exact same setup at your own house to know the difference.

like how does one know if what they are hearing is the amp, DAc or preamp
Speakers are pretty obvious and the rest is mostly trying to be linear.

I tried to get into this room 3 times, but it was always packed with people out to the hall. Even just poking my head in, though, I could tell how good it sounded.

I was really impressed with the Philharmonic BMRs. I've been reading about how good they are for a while, but this was my first time hearing them. A true steal at $1900.

I thought there was something weird happening with the lower mids. It was not something glaringly obvious. There was very minor breakup happening.
