Anyone notice the cheap black-triangle Abbey Road CDs on eBay recently?

Not all sellers are expensive, but some certainly are. Aside from eBay, check used CD shops. I've found a lot of targets that way.

I noticed iluvkaykay relisted the Abbey Road CD. I sent him an e-mail blasting him for selling it again. He told me before he did not realize it was counterfeit, but now he does not have that excuse. I told him I am monitoring his auction items and I asked him to cancel his Abbey Road CD listing.

    Question,

Although this CD indeed seems fake, is it a digital clone of the Japanese CD or is it a copy of the later one with no-noise.

You can tell when you hear "Something". The intro doesn't sound quickly faded in and should start at 00:01.

Ok guys, I've just gotten off the phone with eBay regarding these 2 fakesters and their Abbey Road CD's. They are now going to get off their butts on these 2 sellers. I will keep you all posted on this.

Dave, where did you find the phone number for eBay? When I discovered these fakes, I looked briefly on eBay for a phone number and couldn't find one. So, I used their substandard online reporting system. Of course, eBay did nothing. :realmad:

I applaud you for calling eBay.  Did they say they would contact you again or are you left to see if these sellers stop listing these bogus discs?

Heh, type in eBay phone number in your Google search bar. ;)

The problem is that there is an elaborate email response to bogus sales and the standard email to ebay does not get where we want it. I was guided by the eBay employee to click the "help" link at the top of every eBay page and then go to the "contact us" link on the top left-hand side of the page. Then in box #1 click "Report a listing policy violation or prohibited (banned) item". In box #2 check "Items that may violate a copyright or are counterfeit". Then in box #3 check "Report unauthorized copies of CDs, DVDs, Tapes, etc." and send it on its way.

The employee I got on the phone could easily see exactly what I was talking about and has made it his priority to help us with these 2 bogus sellers. Guess my wife was right, I could sell ice to the Eskimos. :D

Thanks, Dave. eBay probably doesn't list its phone number on its site in order to avoid a massive volume of calls.

How did you convey to the eBay employee that the disc was fake? I mean, you could have indicated the unusual mirror band, etc., etc., etc., but chances are, the guy knows nothing about CDs. How did you get him to understand that the disc was a fake? Did you provide him with a link to an auction for a real copy for comparison? Did you also mention that these sellers are offering other fake discs?

    Great job Dave! :righton:

I complained to eBay through their website this morning. I never thought about calling them. Please share some details when you can.

The eBay employee and I surfed the links in here by me giving him the auction numbers. He could easily see the difference between the real one and the 2 fakes that match with the improperly aligned center ring of the face label. Yes, I mentioned that these 2 sellers were selling other pirated Bee Gees CD's and he told me that he definitely had enough to go into their accounts and unmask those private auctions for evidence and possible customer refunds. He also said without prompting that they are most likely either same person and/or 2 people in cahoots together with these frauds.

As of this writing, both iluvkaykay and way2skinny04 have items for sale on eBay. iluvkaykay is currently offering the fake Bee Gees and Beatles discs. I was hoping that their accounts would have been inactivated by now. :(

I can't understand why Ebay will pull some auctions off in a heartbeat, but here we have a situation where numerous people have complained, brought it to Ebay's attention that these creeps are selling counterfeits, and still they are up and running.
Dave, did you get the name of the Ebay employee you spoke with, or a direct phone number so that you could follow up if necessary? Great detective work, by the way.

I don't understand it either. Between the complaints that eBay has received recently and the negative feedback that iluvkaykay has received going back to February of last year, these guys should be gone by now!

I didn't get his name, but the phone number is the 1-800 common number I got off of the web.

I see step 1 has started from what Jorge mentions. The employee did say they would remove his private bidders option and they did. Now, on to step 2. :D

    :shh: You go Jorge! :righton:

Guys, I've already reported this one, but maybe if everyone sends an email to eBay we can put a stop to this nonsense.

eBay is ridiculous. They should have shut this loser down by now! :realmad:
