Oh man, great pics! I noticed that the original "Love It To Death" album cover is being shown. Is that going to be used for the CD run?

    Yes, of course!

  7. There were no less than four different versions of the LITD cover on vinyl.

I have three of them but have never even seen the one with the whole lower area cropped.

Absolutely! That would definitely add another little touch to the genuine-real-deal aspect of the whole presentation (as well as appealing to the collectors out there).

Cool pics! On pic #004 of the Tape box, there's a note that says:

    * Spiral during program - timing critical

I assume that Spiral has to do with mastering for vinyl/cutting the lacquer, but what exactly does that mean?

Thanks for sharing the pics , gents. What a cool experience!
If this ever happens again, I'm blocking out the whole week of the session & camping out there in a tent (in case I score a slot)!

  16. Those are excellent photos Jim ... :righton:

Does RTI still have that old converted fridge there somewhere? Did not see it in any of the pics.

FWIW, here are shots of the three LITD cover variations I have.

With thumb, without thumb, and without arm ...

Nice! When I get home I'll have to post a picture of the cover that's been cropped.

btw... if you want to see the inside of RTI, rent Michael Fremer's DVD called "Its a Vinyl World After All".

  20. I used to work at a factory that specialize in plastic injection molding for the automotive & industrial sector but was put out of work when Kadon was acquired by Meyers Industries in 2000...... and it is a very long (and somewhat toxic) process of purging the extruder which is mechanical equivalent to preparing the intestines for a colonoscopy. Going from black vinyl to white vinyl was an extremely long process but I'm sure it would different for records as correct me if I'm wrong but aren't they pressed from pre-formed "biscuits".... is it the "master stamper" plates that has to be cleaned or do they make their own biscuits?

Great looking pics! Thanks for posting.

Some quick questions, if I may -

In one of those shots, there is an olive label WB pressing on a turntable. How is this used? Reference only, or more than that?

    Also, regarding this cover shot:

Please tell me that this also the master from the vaults. That would be inspiring.

And, thumbs up on the thumb cover. Please, no "Hit Single" white box.

My understanding is that the pink Straight label is the original. I mean that what I have, anyway.
