I love how the process looks so manual and organic. It's nice to know that these discs are mastered with care and loving attention.

Boy I wish I lived within a reasonable distance of the studio, just for the chance to attend... Steve, do you ever to any sessions on the east coast?

Which metal albums need AF editions - to be precise?

Well, most audiophiles like not only music, but the quality of "the message" in it as well ...

How about Queen's SHM SACD sound quality?

    Regards

Going back in the studio today to try a few more tweaks that came to me in a dream.

Maybe it's the late RJD passing along some "Dream Evil" to you in a nocturnal state...

Steve, did the 'tweaks' happen to be maybe a lil more top end cheese, less onion and a bit more bottom end bacon on that Bronto-Burger???

    :)

I agree, and most metal needs to be mastered the right way.

was the need to use worse masters in the past to cut the cds due to the fact that it needed to be mass produced on such a huge level.

I asked Steve at the session yesterday if there was any chance that he could get his hands (and ears) on ...And Justice For All. Obviously, it depends on licensing/availability/access, etc. But it was more of a suggestion because that album really needs to be fixed.

that one would require a complete remix, I don't think remastering would help one iota - good luck convincing Lars and James to go along with that one even though fans have been screaming for it for 20 years, they don't care

Worse? The people who created the second generation cutting masters thought they sounded better than the master. Brighter, less pesky bass.

    No accounting for taste.

I agree that a remix needs to be done over a remaster, but I would take what I could get in getting a better sounding album.

I will absolutely be ordering Holy Diver when it comes out.

And yes, Justice would be a great remastering project. So would any of the first four Metallica albums, for that matter.

Dio's music is fun, it seems like a good day. In the spirit of the music

Holy Diver will be a Holy Diver Compact Disk, yes.

In other words HD will be a HDCD.

    Just not an HDCD.:)
