Do the usual, put it out on CD first.

After sales start slowing down, put it out on DVD/Blu-ray.

Eventually put out Special Edition sets of combo formats.

I don't have the time to watch the DVD on a regular basis and why should I have to rip the audio content if I want to just enjoy the audio? As it currently stands, it appears there will be a CD option along with a DVD option, so that is fine if it stays that way.

CD....but by the time he's finally ready to release it there will probably be an even newer format not on your list....

CD DVD-A set would be good.
SACD is cool too, but WB tends to release DVD-A only, here.

Somewhat surprised to see the CD format as popular as it has been in this poll.
For something like NY "Archives", I would have figured the high quality video and extended audio resolutions of 24/96 with DVD and 24/192 with Blu-ray to have been the most popular choices.

    Question for the CD voters:
Why is 16/44.1 audio all you really want from the "Archives"?

  9. CD for me.

Do we know for sure the Blu-Ray will be 25/192? It may be 24/96 or 24/48. Just saying.

I think many people here would buy Blu-Ray, if they had a player. Since most people don't, they won't buy a disc they can't play right now.

I disagree. I will probably buy the BluRay even though I don't have a player, but it comes with the ability to download the music, which is the main reason I'm buying it; I couldn't care less about the video, but getting the BluRay ensures I get whatever's available in the future.

I'm buying the DVD and will buy the individual CDs that I'd like as HDCD - The Riverboat 1969 show, Topanga, and North Country.

Because I can't listen to higher resolution in my car, I don't have a DVD player hooked up to my stereo, and I don't have a Blu-Ray player. I also don't want to watch anything while listening to music - especially a spinning record on a screen.

I understand preferring one format to another (I have my preferences as well) but this seems to be putting the cart before the horse. If you aren't interested in a piece of music because it is "only" on CD, I submit that you really aren't very interested in that music to begin with.

I'll always take the convenience and price of a CD as long as the mastering is good.

Neil HATES cd. I seriously doubt he would put this box out in that format at all.
He has been a dvd-a man since forever and this can be transfered to dvd, blue ray or blue spec.

For me, the CD format wouldn't suggest as much of an upgrade in sound quality from the LPs I already have. And aside from that, the video content is a large part of my interest. You don't get video on CD. :)

I would suspect Neil sees the Archives as more than just about the music, otherwise he wouldn't have been so elaborate with the pictures, documents and video included.

You do realize that it IS in fact coming out on CD, as well as DVD & Bluray, correct?
