Actually, it DOES make some sense: to avoid "CD 4 Syndrome". In most career-spanning boxed sets, the final CD usually gets way less play than the others. Look at Elton John's "To Be Continued": once you get past CD 2, it's super hit or miss.

So maybe they didn't want CD 2 of this set to be neglected. Granted, Madonna's had so many hits after the 80s that I don't think that'd totally be the case, but I could see that as a reason to want to intermingle eras...

This is fake. And get a load of that write up. Basically: "This CDR brimming with mp3s boasts a poorly printed cover from amazon.com and was only serviced to the UK market and clubs in New York and Los Angeles."

I can't believe people bid on items like this. The seller is pirating leaked mp3's and recent radio edits with the new single.

As far as the real release goes, I have seen so many different tracklistings for Celebration now that I don't think I'll be able to trust the "official" one until I'm holding the CD in my hands.

The absence of "Lucky Star" would be a bit of a surprise, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a set without these tracks. Yes, they were hits, but they're not viewed as BIG Madonna songs, though one could make a pretty good case for the inclusion of "Open Your Heart".

I just don't think they want to include more than three songs from any particularl album...

Actually it makes a lot of sense, if, after a year or so, they decide to just reissue it as a 1 disc - they don't have to do anything except re-press a load more copies of disc 1 and stick it in a new package. You still have a good overview (although massively incomplete) of her 20 years. Exactly what EMI did with Radiohead's best-of last year.

That's a good point, as the "crucial" songs are all on CD 1...

Nonetheless, this is the third or fourth different tracklisting I've seen for "Celebration" as well. I take it with a huge grain of salt.

I can't get behind a two-CD hits set that omits "Lucky Star," "True Blue," and "Open Your Heart."

If anything, Madonna apparently needs a 3-CD set to compile all of her hits!

this is true indeed...I think they're making a mistake making it a 2 disc release myself...

A 4 disc set of hits and rarities would be nice, but even a 3-disc set is probably overkill for most consumers who wouldn't pay the $25 (or whatever0 MSRP for it.

If that's the real track list, I might buy go for it. It's nice to see 'Dress You Up' and 'Who's That Girl.'

At least there's two tracks I wanted to see on this release. It would have been nice to have 'Angel' and 'This Used To Be My Playground.'

The only Madonna I have is 'Immaculate Collection' and this is probably the only other release of hers that I'll ever buy, being the extremely casual fan that I am.

Not a bad tracklising, IMHO. There are a few things I would have liked to have seen included ("Rain," "Deeper And Deeper," "True Blue") and a couple I would have left off ("Die Another Day," "Justify My Love") but it's solid enough.

As others have said, she's had too many hits to fit them all on a 2-CD set at this point, anyway. I'll probably still pick it up.

Sorry about that. Thank you for clearing that up and providing me with a more reputable tracklisting! :)

I wonder what she's got against True Blue - missing on the Immaculate Collection and again on this list.
Such a sweet song and a good counterpoint to her "more serious" stuff.

    Cherish is here though....

great video too, maybe because it is the name of the album everyone knows it, and she doesn't want the sales of the TB album to dip ? ?

Nice to see there's "Miles Away" from her most recent release. It was my favourite track from "Hard Candy". I'm surprised there was space for "Die Another Day" and "Hollywood" and not for "Jump" and/or "Get Together" (both from Confessions) anyway. Also, "Nothing Fails" (Nevins Mix) would have been a nice inclusion, IMHO.

Dude if they use the Immaculate Collection version on a new GH CD what is the point. I'll be so pissed.
The Like A Prayer and Express Yourself mixes are awful!
