There's been a number of threads on this already, but start with Newbury Comics on Newbury Street. It's a chain, so they're in various suburbs as well if that's where you're going. Check their website for more details.

The Newbury Comics chain is excellent. Great selection of CDs, new and used. The prices have always been less than the major B&M stores too, I believe they rolled prices back on thusands of titles recently. Don't let the store name throw you off if you're unfamiliar with them. They also have a nice website, lots of sale titles in there weekly. And yea, if you want comics, magazines, and apparell they have a small section of each store dedicated to that as well. Occasionally, you can find some great boxset bargains...found the Pink Floyd set a few months ago for $80 :righton: There's still a slew of indies too, like Looney Tunes (nice LP selection in the Cambridge location), Planet Records in Harvard Square, mostly used, but some new and lots of box sets. As far as I know, Tower is still open and had a huge quantity of CDs and DVDs in stock (last week). Ron

there was a neat little hole in the wall record store called "Looney Tunes" on Boylston Street, near Fenway. Went in there for a few minutes before a Red Sox game a month ago, pretty neat, mostly vinyl though.

That location is currently Virgin Records... but they are closing up shop soon. The two Tower's locations in the Boston area are in Harvard Sq Cambridge, and in Burlington on Middlesex Tpk and Mall Rd(near Burlington Mall) heading North.

Don't forget Looney Tunes. Always worth it.
