    Hi all,

I'm still waiting for my booty of DJM's from Germany to arrive. But in the meantime, and this probably shouldn't be too much of a surprise, the Polydor pressing of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" also utilizes the *same* digital mastering source as the earlier DJM and yellow-spined MCA. All null sample inversion tests and statistics were absolutely identical -- the only difference being that the Polydor is crammed onto one disc, with 2 seconds of silence lopped off in the process.

So, in the case of this particular title, ALL three major pre-'95 CD versions of this (not including the Mo-Fi, of course) are sourced from the same digital mastering.

I read the thread heading and thought it was about old country singer Elton Britt. Drat!

Congrats, David. I think that you've got what it takes to do this type of detective work full time. Without pay of course...

It's nice to have some specialty experts on this forum. Luke for the Who and Stones, David Modney for Elton John...

    Grant,

I'm hardly an expert on Elton (though, I certainly appreciate your sentiments).

I was just really interested in getting to the bottom of these early CD issue variations -- and stupid enough to spend the money trying to help sort it all out...lol! It's been a learning process for me too.

    Hey Dave,
I'm really interested in hearing your comparative results on the Original Issue Elton John-Self Titled...DJM vs. the MCA, Polydor and Rocket Cee Dee's!
