...and was totally blown away! Went to Sound Factor in Encino and they put on Patricia Barbers "Ode to Billie Joe" They didn't have an M55 hooked up yet so will go back again after next Tuesday. But I'm already sold. It'll be a month or so before I get them.

Let us know how the M55 sounds. I've had my eye on that puppy.

There is a review on the NAD M55 in the August issue of TAS.

Anybody know how they implemented bass management on the M55 unit? I downloaded the manual from the NAD website and it says nothing. The manual concentrates almost exclusively on video. I was wondering if you could adjust the subwoofer channel crossover frequency, or if it is fixed (typically at 80 Hz).

Pardon my ignorance, I have been under the impression that only multi-channel boxes such as HT receiver/preamp offer bass management, a 2-channel integrated does not. However, in many of the older NAD receivers/ preamps, there is a bass equalization switch which does give you a bass boost.

OK, thanks. The only other ones I've seen with variable crossovers are the Denons (2910/3910/5910).

Sorry, this is almost a side topic. The M55 is a universal digital disc player, but in the same NAD Master series with the more or less matching M3 integrated amp.
